'AGT' Season 17: Fans slam judges for making 'sex jokes' with Duo Mico, say women have 'platonic, working male friends'

The judges couldn't get over the fact that Caroline Rinny was performing with Maxime Piché Luneau and not her husband, who was helping backstage

When it comes to acrobat/aerial acts on 'AGT', the show sees the best of the best. So far, there have been some phenomenal acrobat acts, such as Duo Forza and Duo Rings, both of whom wowed the judges in a heartbeat. Now, it was Duo Mico's turn to give 'AGT' all that they have. As they took to the stage, Maxime Piché Luneau and Caroline Rinny introduced themselves to the judges.

Rinny reminded the judges that they had actually met before, back on Season 12 in 2017, when her husband Jonathan Rinny was performing and she was assisting him. Now, the tables have turned, seeing that he was now helping out Piché Luneau and Rinny with their act. While Rinny joked that they had swapped roles, she added that the dream was for them to have their own show and promote their art. When Simon Cowell asked what set Duo Mico apart from the rest, Rinny explained that they spent a whole year creating original sequences and that how they perform makes them different from other acrobat/aerial acts.

As Duo Mico began their performance, they had the entire auditorium in pure shock and awe -- their act was like watching poetry in motion. When it came down to it, the judges were beyond impressed. Sofia noted that it was both sexy and mysterious and she wanted to see more. Howie Mandel mentioned that they were nearly two storeys up in the air with no safety net, making their act a combination of dangerous and exciting. Heidi Klum compared it to a fight scene in a movie, stating that she loved. Simon said he liked the act, but was more curious about their story, seeing that Rinny's husband was backstage helping them.

He asked if she dumped her husband for a new partner, which Rinny found hilarious, stating that Piché Luneau were good friends. The judges were curious to know what Piché Luneau could do that Rinny's husband Jonathan could not. As Rinny explained, her husband's speciality was not aerial, which cleared the air in an instant. But jokes aside, Duo Mico was quick to bag the four yeses they needed to advance forward. While fans loved their act, they were less than impressed with the judges' questions. "It's not a new, foreign concept for women to have platonic, working male friends. Shame on you #agt @AGT for embarrassing that woman and her husband. Insinuating she's cheating on him. Be better @SimonCowell @howiemandel @SofiaVergara @heidiklum @terrycrews" said a fan. "Silly questions form the judges. #AGT" added a fan. "Wow the judges just couldn't wrap their heads around the idea of a husband happily supporting his wife in as the star without repeatedly implying cheating, sex jokes, or toxic male competition. Kudos to that performer for cheerfully shutting them down and not playing along #agt" said a fan.
