"You know why we're so happy?" Tichina asks the camera before turning to Terry, saying, "Tell them why we're smiling." "Everybody Still Hates Chris, it was announced today y'all," says Terry. "The show that we did is now animated!"
Tichina adds, “Oh, it’s going to be so much fun. Let’s dance!” The two begin dancing together and smiling before the video ends.
“We have been anxiously waiting to announce #EVERYBODY STILL HATES CHRIS - Animated series on @ComedyCentral - Yay!” the caption included.
“We are so excited about this new venture. For all of you lovely people that have rocked with us, you now get a chance to laugh at our animated characters. We appreciate your support.”
The post ended with, “Let’s go!!!” Terry will once again step into the character of Julius, Chris' father, who has a strong work ethic and savvy spending habits.
Who will star in 'Everybody Still Hates Chris'?
Chris narrates and serves as an executive producer for each 30-minute episode airing on Comedy Central. Tyler James Williams portrayed Chris in the original.
Tichina and Terry will return as Chris' parents, with new cast members Tim Johnson Jr, Ozioma Akagha, Terrence Little Gardenhigh, and Gunnar Sizemore joining them. “I’m very excited to introduce the world to another funny side of my childhood,” Chris said to Variety.
Why was 'Everybody Hates Chris' canceled?
Chris decided to end 'Everybody Hates Chris' on his terms before the network could cancel it. Despite four successful seasons, the show faced cancellation due to declining ratings and a change in its time slot.
The series finale honors 'The Sopranos' with a cliffhanger finish that leaves fans delighted. You can watch 'Everybody Hates Chris' on Tubi and Prime Video.
When will 'Everybody Still Hates Chris' air?
From 2005 to 2009, 'Everybody Hates Chris' aired for four seasons on UPN and later on The CW. The announcement of the animated spinoff was initially made in August 2022, but details have been scarce until now.
In the 2022 press release, Chris McCarthy, President/CEO of Paramount Media Networks and MTV Entertainment Studios, discussed the project.
"Chris Rock is one of the most gifted comedians of all time, and we're excited to partner with him, 3 Arts, and CBS Studios to bring this to life and welcome it as the next big hit," the President/CEO said.
