'AGT: All Stars' 2023: Fans glad after Simon Cowell buzzes Captain Ruin's 'boring' daredevil act
PASADENA, CALIFORNIA: Captain Ruin from 'Australia's Got Talent' performed on January 16 on 'AGT: All Stars.' His performance on the 'AGT' stage consisted of throwing knives to avoid being intentionally crushed by a falling piano. Simon Cowell buzzed the act. "There was a lot of build up, not much delivery," Simon commented after giving the knife thrower an X. Ruin's performance did not receive enough votes from the Superfans to make it into the Top 3 of the night, eliminating him from the competition.
"Don't die!" Howie Mandel gave advice to Captain Ruin, an Australian knife thrower who entered the 2019 finals with a golden buzzer but abruptly dropped out after the semifinals. Ruin did not mention his elimination. He just said, "I made it to the semifinals, but then..." before trailing off and continued his act.

The "punk rock daredevil" completed a knife throwing task. If he missed his target, a dangling piano would fall on him. A shifting target made the task much more difficult. Ruin mastered the challenge, but it was a disappointment for the audience who looked bored after the daredevil Captain Ruin finished his death-defying performance. Simon pressed the red buzzer for the third time tonight and told Ruin that he built up too much without showing the danger. Heidi and Howie admitted that they weren't very scared and that he needed "an edge" to his performance. Fans agreed with Simon as they felt there was no surprise in the act. One fan wrote, "I'm with the audience. WTH is this 'AGT':All-Stars No surprise, Simon buzzed him", while some of the fans feel bamboozled, "i feel bamboozled honestly", a fan added.
