LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Set against an apocalyptic world where humans have turned into monsters, Netflix is all set to release the 'Sweet Home' Season 3 on Friday, July 19, 2024.

Based on the Naver webtoon of the same name by Kim Carnby and Hwang Young-chan, the narrative follows a group of residents in the Green Home apartment complex who get trapped while the world outside succumbs to a mystery phenomenon that transforms humans into ugly monsters.

As you prepare to witness the conclusion of the epic conflict between humans and monsters, let's first look at five shows that are akin to it and will have you on the edge of your seat.  

1. Kingdom (2019)

'Kingdom' takes place during the Joseon Dynasty in Korea when the King becomes ill and the royal court is shrouded in secrecy.

Suspecting foul play, Crown Prince Lee Chang (Ju Ji-hoon) sets out to learn the real cause of his father's illness and his investigation leads to a horrifying discovery.

Turns out, the King has contracted a strange plague that transforms the dead into monsters or Zombies that devour flesh.

As the plague spreads, political factions in the court compete for power, resulting in a complicated web of alliances and betrayals.

Lee Chang struggles to survive the infection while also navigating the perilous political environment.

'Kingdom' presents an exciting historical drama with a distinctive take on the zombie apocalypse which reflects the excitement of 'Sweet Home’.

2. All of Us Are Dead (2022)

The adventure series is set against the backdrop of a fictional South Korean high school that becomes the center of a zombie outbreak as a result of a botched scientific experiment.

Due to this a highly contagious virus is released that transforms infected students into monsters that devour flesh.

As the outbreak spreads, a group of students find themselves stranded inside the school.

As the story progresses, the students discover a network of lies about the virus's source and the government's reaction as they struggle to survive.

'All of Us Are Dead' is a fantastic option if you loved the action-packed, high-stakes survivor tale, human nature exploration, and zombie scenes in ‘Sweet Home’.

3. Happiness (2021)

'Happiness' is a must-watch if you are missing the suspense and social commentary of 'Sweet Home’.

The plot of the show centers around a posh high-rise apartment block with a diverse population of residents who appear to be leading comfortable lives.

However, the seemingly peaceful life is disrupted when a novel infectious disease known as the Lytta virus, or 'mad person disease’, devastates the neighborhood.

Those who are infected first suffer from extreme thirst, then bloodlust, and a zombie-like condition.

The authorities promptly placed the building under quarantine in order to contain the outbreak, trapping the occupants inside.

The narrative centers around two characters,  Jung Yi-hyun (Park Hyung-sik), a compassionate detective who also resides in the building, and Yoon Sae-bom (Han Hyo-joo), a tough police officer.

The duo must cooperate with other residents to survive the outbreak and solve the mystery surrounding the virus.

4. Hellbound

The story of 'Hellbound' centers on the unanticipated appearance of eerie beings who condemn certain people to hell and specify the day and time of their horrifying demise.

These declarations, referred to as 'decrees’, are unquestionable and cause a tremendous deal of anxiety.

In the middle of all of this, a Two organizations in cahoots, the cult-like New Truth Society and the gang-like Arrowhead group, gain power by playing on people's fears.

The show expertly delves into the concept of divine punishment and questions whether it's truly just, much like 'Sweet Home' did when it came to the morality of the monster transformations.

5. Hotel Del Luna

In case you're longing for the dark fantasy and supernatural aspects of 'Sweet Home', 'Hotel Del Luna' could be the ideal Korean drama to satisfy your cravings until the release of Season 3.

The story revolves around the opulent yet odd Hotel Del Luna, which is run by Jang Man-wol (Lee Ji-eun, also known as IU), a stunning but erratic woman who has been the establishment's CEO for a millennium.

She's stuck in this role, cursed for a previous transgression until she discovers someone who has committed an even greater sin.

However, her life takes a drastic turn when she hires Yeo Jin-goo (Koo Chan-sung) as the hotel manager. 

As the narrative progresses, a past connection between Man-wol and Chan-sung surfaces which alters both of their lives.
