2022 Korean Music Awards: BTS bag most Daesangs, aespa wins their first Grand Prize
The 19th Korean Music Awards took place on March 1, 2022, and among the big winners on the show, SM Entertainment rookies aespa shocked fans by winning the most number of awards.
Not only aespa, but BTS broke another record by bagging a new Daesang (Grand Prize) at the show, becoming the K-pop act with the most number of Daesangs in the history of Korean Music Awards. BTS seems to be solidifying its position as one of the biggest K-pop acts to exist as the septet also ranked first at the 2021 IFPI Global Best Recording Artist for two years in a row.
BTS also ranked Number 4 on the IFPI Global Album Sales Chart for their 2020 Japanese album ‘BTS: The Best’, Number 4 on the IFPI Global Digital Single Chart for the song ‘Butter’ among other international acts. aespa, on the other hand, is proving their monster rookie title by being the only act to win not one but three titles at the 2022 Korean Music Awards. Other than BTS and aespa, Chungha, IU, AKMU were some of the many popular K-pop winners at the show.
