2022 Baeksang Arts Awards Winners: 2PM's Junho makes history with first idol actor win
One of the glamorous nights of Korean entertainment finally took place. The 2022 Baeksang Arts Awards honored the best of the best in Korean film, drama and theater. We have had some iconic winners like ‘The Outlaws’, ‘Swing Kids’, ‘The World of the Married’ and ‘It’s Okay to Not Be Okay’ in the past. For the 58th Baeksang Arts Awards, it was a big night for films ‘Escape from Mogadishu’ and ‘King Maker’, and for K-dramas ‘D.P.’ and ‘Squid Game’. We also had 2PM’s Junho making history as an idol actor.
There have been several K-pop idols too who have branched out and established themselves as talented actors in film and drama like Im Siwan (ZE:A), Girls’ Generation’s Seohyun and Yoona, Bae Suzy (miss A) and more. In fact, a majority of the 2PM members are idol actors themselves as we had Lee Junho’s ‘The Red Sleeve’ and Ok Taecyeon’s ‘Inspector Joy’ competing for the popular historical drama of December 2021. Well, with Junho winning two awards, he is the first idol actor to win the 'Best Actor Award' at the 2022 Baeksang Arts Awards. Previously, he made history by becoming the first idol actor to win at the 2022 Korea PD Awards.
