'Love and Leashes': BDSM Netflix film starring K-pop idols SHOCKS fans
Warning: NSFW content
In 2021, Netflix invested $500 million in the South Korean entertainment industry as the global demand for K-dramas and Korean content among Netflix users increased worldwide. South Korean content was responsible for 15 per cent of their accrued revenue in Asian and Pacific countries in 2020. Korean content has ended up attracting 25 million new Netflix users, which might be why Netflix is getting 'bolder' with their original Korean content. Following the 19+ K-drama ‘Nevertheless’ and explicit sex scene in ‘My Name’ in 2021, things are set to get a lot wilder in 2022. After the reality dating show ‘Single’s Inferno,’ we now have the upcoming BDSM film ‘Love and Leashes,’ starring K-pop idols.
On January 17, Netflix Korea released the trailer for their original Korean film ‘Love and Leashes’. If the name didn’t give it away, the poster has the female lead dominating the male lead. The BDSM-themed film has further shocked fans as it stars K-pop idols. While Korean actors have it easier when it comes to risky roles, the obsessive fan culture around K-pop idols means labels and idol management agencies generally tell their artists to play it safe when it comes to dating, taboo content like LGBT+ themes, sex, and anything remotely controversial. Since it is rare for K-pop idols to do risque content, fans are having the time of their lives.

What is ‘Love and Leashes’
‘Love and Leashes’ stars U-Kiss’ Jun aka Lee Jun-young as the male lead, while Girls’ Generation’s Seohyun plays the female lead. The movie is based on the webtoon ‘Moral Sense’ which is an office romance between Jun’s character Ji-hoo who has a secret, and Seohyun’s character Ji-woo who finds out about his secret and is more than ready to comply. With the posters and teasers consisting of ribbons, chokers, leashes, and whips, fans have deduced that the secret just might be Ji-hoo’s interest in BDSM. The movie will release on Netflix on February 11.
K-pop fans have ended up trending the film on Twitter as they made hilarious memes and thirst tweets to hype it up. On seeing Seohyun tying up Jun, one fan tweeted, “SEOHYUN, ME NEXT.” Another joked, “This is the SNSD seohyun content we deserve! I hope she pegs and fists him on tv!!! Queenie!” One fan commented, “She looks too natural at this.” Another added, “No cause if we're doing bdsm i want to see junyoung's sexy a** tied up and getting pegged.” One joked that Jun couldn’t remain shy after calling Seohyun ‘master’, “BYE. JUNYOUNG HAS NO RIGHT TO BE LIKE *See-no-evil monkey emoji* AFTER THIS.”
Another posted, “I'm so sorry for the person i'm going to become when this show releases YOU MEAN TO TELL ME I GET TO SEE JUNYOUNG ON HIS KNEES. WITH SEOHYUN.... SEOHYUN.... AHHDIDHSJJHHHHHG.” One fan made a reaction meme, "Alexa, play Chained Up by VIXX." Another added, "I haven't been this excited for a drama since the Goblin teasers." Another confessed that Taemin's seductive songs would be the perfect OST, "The drama theme practically screams for a #Taemin OST."
