The 2021 MTV EMAs was a good night for BTS because not only were they nominated in four categories, they won all four of them. With the award show season beginning all over the world, K-pop has been getting acknowledged in several international circuits. We had artists being nominated at award shows like Brazil’s BreakTudos Awards, AMAs, PCAs and MTV VMAs. And the global K-pop group BTS has continued to display their influence by winning almost every category they have been nominated in.

In the last few weeks, BTS has dominated American award shows like the People’s Choice Awards and American Music Awards by being nominated in several categories. They have also gone on to make history by being the first Asian act to be nominated in a grand prize category -- the ‘Artist of the Year’ at the 2021 AMAs. It had also been reported that BTS had sent their first submission for the 2022 Grammys by sending in their summer hit ‘Butter’. They had also bagged three major awards at the 2021 MTV VMAs like ‘Group of the Year’, ‘Song of Summer’ and ‘Best K-Pop’.

And on November 14, the 2021 MTV EMAs announced their winners which included BTS.

With four nominations, BTS had been the most nominated group. They ended up winning in all four nominated categories, ‘Best Group’, ‘Best Pop’, ‘Best K-Pop’ and ‘Biggest Fans’ awards. Due to the Hallyu Wave having a global impact, we also saw MTV EMAs introduce the ‘Best K-Pop’ category for the first time. Along with BTS, we also had Monsta X, NCT 127, TWICE, Blackpink and their members Lisa and Rosé being nominated.
