K-pop has become a global phenomenon over the last few years with acts like BTS, Monsta X, Blackpink, Seventeen, Twice, and many more taking the genre to international platforms. Over the last few years, BTS has solidified their global position by dominating charts, sales, and award show so much so that they have come to become not only the biggest band in K-pop but the biggest boy-band in the world.

With their ever-increasing popularity, the members also have had a firm hold over the recent award shows in K-pop as well as on several international award shows. Back in September, BTS won the most number of awards at the 2021 MTV VMAs. BTS bagged three big awards after being nominated in seven categories. BTS won the title of Group of the Year after they defeated Blackpink in a fan-voted category. BTS also won the award for ‘Best K-pop Video’ and ‘Best Song of the Summer’, both for their hit single, ‘Butter’. Despite fans claiming that BTS had been snubbed from four out of seven nominations, BTS still was the act with most award titles.
