BTS at 2021 People’s Choice Awards: Air date, K-pop nominations and how to vote
Looks like K-pop is indeed going global. After several groups were nominated for the MTV VMAs and EMAs, more award shows are recognizing the impact of K-pop. Earlier, it was announced that BTS had submitted their English single ‘Butter’ to get nominated for the ‘Best Pop Duo/Group Category’ at the 2022 Grammys. And now they are also making waves at the 2021 PCAs aka People’s Choice Awards.
With award shows being rigged to the judging panel being biased, People’s Choice Awards decided to launch an award show that would look at the criteria that truly factors in someone’s influence and fame and that is their fans. The American event awards artists in the entertainment industry through fan votes, i.e., the winner is the people’s choice. And with the Hallyu Wave taking over the globe, it is no surprise that K-pop groups like BTS and K-dramas like ‘Squid Game’ would be considered as people’s choice.

The 2021 People’s Choice Awards will air on December 7 at 9 pm ET.

Nominations
‘Squid Game’
The successful K-drama is in fact the most-viewed Netflix show at the moment. And with it being considered for the likes of Emmys, it is no wonder that 'Squid Game' has been nominated for the 2021 PCAs. It is nominated in ‘The Bingeworthy Show of 2021’ category. It is against ‘Cobra Kai’, ‘Loki’, ‘Mare of Easttown’, ‘Outer Banks’, ‘Sex/Life’, ‘Ted Lasso’ and ‘The White Lotus’.
TXT aka Tomorrow X Together
Housing BTS, HYBE LABELS’ second boy group is none other than TXT. And they too are making waves in the international music scene. Their album ‘Freeze’ became the longest-charting 2021 K-pop album on Billboard. They have also won at the Latin BreakTudo Awards, Japan Gold Disc Awards and been nominated at the likes of MTV Millenial Awards and VMAs. Well at the 2021 PCAs, they are nominated in ‘The New Artist’ category. They are against 24kGoldn, Bella Poarch, Giveon, Olivia Rodrigo, Rauw Alejandro, Tate McRae and The Kid LAROI.

ARMY really are the busiest since BTS has been nominated at several award shows. The global K-pop group has been nominated for 2021 AAA, MTV EMAs, along with PCAs. They have been nominated four times in three categories at the PCAs. They are in ‘The Group Of 2021’ category, ‘Butter’ is in ‘The Song Of 2021’ category and ‘The Music Video Of 2021’ category. Additionally, ‘My Universe’, their collab with Coldplay is also nominated for ‘The Music Video Of 2021’ category.
How to vote
Voting has begun and can be done through Twitter and PCAs’ website till November 17. Fans have to log in through email or Facebook to vote. One user gets 25 votes per day in each category. Users can also tweet their votes on Twitter or retweet someone’s vote on Twitter. The tweet should contain the words ‘vote’, the nominee, the category’s hashtag, 2021 and #PCAs.
