Now that Zoey (Jane Levy) realizes she has no control over her musical powers, this week it was all about girl power on 'Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist' as she stepped out of her comfort zone to help her mother Maggie and boss Joan with their marriage troubles.

The whimsical musical dramedy returned on Sunday night for Episode 3, titled 'Zoey's Extraordinary Boss'. While over the past two episodes, we haven't seen or heard much from Zoey's boss, Joan who is played by Lauren Graham, you'd be happy to know that in this episode, she performs some satisfying numbers herself.

Kickstarting Zoey's mission with a musical number that showcases her deepest thoughts was her boss Joan, belting out the notes to 'Satisfaction' by The Rolling Stones.

Zoey, in the beginning, assumes that it is because Joan is not satisfied with the work her team is doing ahead of their watch launch. However, her assumption is broken down by the reality of Joan's marriage. Joan is married to a narcissistic husband, Charlie (Justin Kirk) who has no time for her.

Though Zoey tries her best not to interfere with Joan's marriage, she is dragged into it by her powers that do not let her avoid the problem. Zoey helps Joan realize that her husband's impolite and narcissistic behavior is uncalled for and unacceptable.

Meanwhile, Zoey's mother Maggie finds herself in the brink of a meltdown after Zoey configures a program that will help her dad communicate more directly. While Maggie hopes that it would be a sweet message to her, she is stunned when all he types out is "lemonade".

Heartbroken Maggie performs 'How Can You Mend A Broken Heart' by Al Green which leaves Zoey shocked to see her mother having a meltdown. To help her mother, Zoey and her brother decide to take turns in looking after their dad so Maggie can have some time to herself.

Joan finds herself feeling dissatisfied with her husband Charlie (Sergei Bachlakov/NBC)

On the other hand, when Joan's husband, Charlie enters the office, he is worshipped by her colleagues who gawked at him belting out the lyrics to 'Superstar' from Jesus Christ Superstar.

However, after Joan stands up to Charlie and demands he puts some time aside for her, he leaves the office disagreeing to show a demo of the watch during the launch party.

Zoey asks Simon if he will be able to find another major media influencer, to which he begins to perform, 'NO' by Meghan Trainor. While at first Zoey feels responsible for interfering and ruining Joan's relationship, Joan, on the other hand, apologizes to Charlie just so he would come back.

However, during the launch party, Joan loses her patience and grows strong enough to let Charlie go. She realizes the true worth of herself with the help of Zoey and gets ready to give the demo at the launch party.

While preparing to give the demo, Joan's deepest thoughts showcase her growing strong with a performance of 'Roar' by Katy Perry.

Overall the entire episode is filled with positive feministic elements. It is impressive to see how logical and consistent the writers are when it comes to addressing pressing topics right from Mo's gender non-binary status to feminism.

As for the songs, they seem to find the perfect song for every situation, especially the classics that hold a lot more meaning and feel.

Though Zoey is out and about helping her close ones in need, she still finds herself stuck in what can be called an inverted love triangle between Max and Simon, who are both taken.

'Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist' airs every Sunday night only on NBC. Check your local listings for more information.
