After a month-long wait, 'Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist' returned with Episode 2 'Zoey's Extraordinary Best Friend'. While this episode didn't have as many musical numbers as Episode 1, it was more or less intended towards helping Zoey try to keep her team under control after her new promotion, and if whether or not she is able to control her powers and come to terms with it.

The eccentric musical drama returned on Sunday night, and if the month-long pause left you feeling a little bit vague about what happened in the premiere, worry not, as Zoey herself helps you catch up on what happened right after she received the power to hear people's deepest thoughts through a private performance.

She tells her new friend/neighbor Mo, "Because of whatever this new ability is, I discovered that all the programmers at work hate me. On the other hand, I was able to communicate with my dad again, and bond with my office crush. On the other hand, my office crush has a fiancee, and my best friend is in love with me. Or at least thinks he is in love with me."

Episode 2 kicks off with Zoey's own musical debut after she finds out she has the music in her. In what seemed to a dream that ended with a nightmare, Zoey was grooving to the song, 'I Got The Music In Me' by Kiki Dee.

After her recent promotion as the manager, Zoey finds herself feeling the need to have everything under control. While at the beginning of the episode she finds herself wanting to have everything under control right from her photo-frame on the wall, her team to her powers, by the end she realizes that not everything needs to be, and things will still end up fine.

Starting off she tries to find a way to control her powers, with noise-canceling headphones, and a couple of theories suggested by Mo, nothing seems to work in her favor. Seeing that she stays away from anything creative, Zoey tries to solve most of her issues with logical thinking. That's exactly what happened when her best friend at work Max who confessed his feelings for her with the song 'Sucker' by the Jonas brothers tried to invite her for dinner after he won the lottery at Hand-Picker, a farm-to-table restaurant.

Zoey tries to think of a way to deny Max's request worrying he would perceive it as a date. She finds her solution at her favorite cafe when the barista, Autumn expressed her loneliness to Zoey with the song 'I Wanna Dance With Somebody' by Whitney Houston.

She sets them up but looks like that decision is going to bite her back when at the end of the episode Zoey sees them sitting and bonding in the cafe. Spying on the duo while there were on a coffee date, you could see the look of remorse and contentment at the same time.

Meanwhile, things are looking good for her dad as his new medication seems to be working. His supranuclear palsy might have not yet been cured but it did slow down. He is able to move his face and hands a little more along with minimalistic gestures.

Trying to figure out what her father is trying to tell her mother, he breaks out by singing, 'Moondance' by Van Morrison. Zoey, who is not a music virtuoso has no idea what it means. But her friend Mo suggests that maybe Mitch wants to "get it on" with his wife.

You could feel the vicarious embarrassment Zoey has when she tries to talk to her mother Maggie about her sex life. But luckily, the song was just a reference to the couple confessing their love to each other.

On the other hand, after her first test as a team lead ends up being a "talk of shame", Zoey connected with her team by reading her journal out loud. One could notice that Zoey is someone who has a lot of heart. And by reading out her journal to her team members, it did not just help her show her team that she trusted them, but also admired them right from the day she joined SPRQPOINT.

By the end of the episode, Zoey realizes that instead of trying to control her powers, she decides to just see what the world is trying to show her and let it narrate at its own pace. It is going to be interesting to see how the storyline progresses. Will she eventually develop feelings for her best friend Max? Will it be too late by then? We do not know that yet. But what we do know is that Zoey is finally starting to look at her powers more of a blessing than a curse, at least for now.

'Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist' airs every Sunday night only on NBC. Check your local listings for more information.
