Earpers were finally blessed after Syfy's 'Wynonna Earp' returned with new episodes after a two-year wait. That two-year gap did nothing to stem our fervor or even the action on the show as the fourth season dived right in where the previous season had ended — Wynonna Earp (Melanie Scrofano) is looking for her sister Waverly (Dominique Provost-Chalkley) and Doc Holliday (Tim Rozon).

The only people remaining in Purgatory are Sheriff Randy Nedley (Greg Lawson) and Mercedes Gardner (Dani Kind) after black Badge forcefully evacuated the town as Bulshar (Jean Marchand) nearly won his quest in getting into the Garden of Eden. We also learned that Waverly is part angel.

A full recap of the previous three seasons is available here, but for now, let's look at what lies ahead for our heroes. The Season 4 premiere saw that while most of Purgatory were headed to a Black Badge compound, newly-engaged Nicole Haught (Katherine Barrell) made her way off the train to head back to Purgatory to save Waverly. This results in her teaming up with best friend Wynonna (no take-backs) to do this.

They make their way over to the Black Badge Division's lab where they encounter Rachel Valdez (Martina Ortiz-Luis), the daughter of Black Badge scientist, Dr Valdez, whose last name was carved into Homestead by Jeremy Chetri (Varun Saranga), who was also taken by Black Badge. As the last episode ended, Nicole finds her way to the Garden somehow, to encounter a shocked Doc.

In the new episode, we will see Wynonna pair up with Valdez Jr which will give us the opportunity to learn more about this teenager. So far, Rachel Valdez is a mystery and we are not yet certain whether she is on the side of the good, or whether she is just playing along — perhaps to get to the Garden like Wynonna, but with different intentions. Meanwhile, Waverly and Nicole are reunited in the Garden — a long time coming since they just got engaged before the Earp sisters made their way over to fight Bulshar.

However, that happy reunion might be short-lived. From what we can tell from the promo, it looks like Waverly could be embracing her "destiny" — even after Wynonna makes it to the Garden, Waverly seems like she wants to stay put. We also see Waverly doing something to Doc — our first guess is that Doc is being turned back into a mortal, but in 'Wynonna Earp', you never know. Another question that the promo raises is whether it is actually Nicole in the Garden. Could it be a manifestation of the Garden to get Waverly to stay and be the guardian?

Titled 'Friends in Low Places', the second episode is sure to be a hit as well. We cannot wait for all the reunions and the reveals and it feels like 'Wynonna Earp' never went away.

'Wynonna Earp' airs on Syfy on Sunday nights at 10/9c. Watch the promo for this week's episode below.
