'Work In Progress' finale ends on a heartbreaking note and fans can't wait for the next season
The popular comedy series on Showtime marks the end of its first season with Episode 8, where we see Abby struggling hard to reconnect with Chris and trying to explain herself, But to no avail. She delves deeper into her own actions and finds out where she could have gone wrong. Abby even tried to get in touch with her ex-girlfriend, Melanie, who had left her seven years ago, leaving her with a broken heart and severe depression.
Although they both initially felt good to see each other after a hiatus, the 'good feeling' didn't last long. As soon as Abby opened up about her real reason for meeting Melanie, it threw her off. After all, Abby is only looking for answers to her problems and a way or a person who could 'fix her'. Despite her heartfelt attempt to justify herself to Chris, her boyfriend parted ways with her, leaving her with one almond that he had picked from her apartment.
As Chris says goodbye to Abby, leaving her lost, confused, and with a million questions to deal with, fans cannot but feel sad for our most-loved character on the show. One fan said, "It was sad. But I get it."
Don't get us wrong. Abby's character is funny in a dark, cold way but is funny nevertheless. She, however, is not free of flaws. She has made a lot of mistakes and continues to do so — some consciously and the rest subconsciously. While we feel bad for her, we also look forward to what the future has in store for her. Like us, the fans of 'Work In Progress' also shared their excitement for the upcoming chapter, as the network promises a second season of the popular comedy series.
Here is what a fan has to say as the first season ends. "@WiP_SHO this show is simply excellent. I'm so happy we get a season two... BUT why is it season one finale already... I'm loving it too much for it to end this season."
Another one added, "Done with the last ep of s1... oh wow good to hear that there will be a s2. (sic)"
Overall, people have been in absolute admiration of how Abby and Chris have been represented through the beautifully written characters and a heartwarming story.
Here is some more appreciation from fans. "Best TV show I've seen in a long time. So glad you are making season 2."
'Work In Progress' aired its season one finale on January 26.
