'The Madison' gets surprise Season 3 update as cast teases future: 'We would shoot this gladly forever'
‘The Madison’, the latest project from Taylor Sheridan, hasn’t finished airing its debut season yet, and the cast and crew are already casually eyeing a long road ahead. They are planning to stretch into a third chapter if things fall into place. While nothing official has been stamped or signed beyond what’s already in motion, the tone coming from the team making the show feels pretty clear. Patrick J. Adams, who plays Russell McIntosh, didn’t exactly hold back when talking about his experience in a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter. He described the project as something that the team would continue working on indefinitely if given the chance.
He said, “I think I speak for everyone when I say we would shoot this gladly forever. We’ve found something kind of miraculously special here and as long as it’s a story that people want to hear, we’d be happy to tell it.” Director and executive producer Christina Voros echoed that same energy, though she put it in slightly more personal terms. Having wrapped work on the second season already, she spoke about growing closer to the cast over time. She stated, “Any time you get a show together with a cast like this you kind of want it to go forever. And I think having completed the second season, you just fall more and more in love with them as a family.”
And then there’s the bigger picture, which includes Sheridan himself. While there hasn’t been a formal green light for anything beyond the already planned two seasons, there are whispers that he’s not thinking small with this story. The idea of continuing past what’s currently ordered isn’t just floating around casually; it seems to be part of the long-term vision, assuming the numbers and reception line up. Speaking of reception, the response so far has landed somewhere in the middle. The ratings reflect a mixed reaction, with a 60% Rotten Tomatoes score and a 68% audience score.
At the center of it all is Michelle Pfeiffer, who plays Stacy Clyburn. She’s forced to uproot her life and move her family from New York City to the wide-open spaces of Montana after a life-altering event. Opposite her is Kurt Russell as Preston Clyburn, her husband. The supporting cast includes familiar and fresh faces alike: Beau Garrett, Elle Chapman, Amiah Miller, Ben Schnetzer, Kevin Zegers, Rebecca Spence, and Matthew Fox. Furthermore, fans won’t have to wait too long to see how the first chapter wraps up, with the final three episodes of Season 1 set to drop on March 21 via Paramount+.
