The supernatural horror film 'Insidious: Out of the Further' is set to return with more shadowy figures from the spirit world when it releases in theaters on August 21. Previously titled 'The Bleeding World,' the upcoming film is the sixth installment in the popular 'Insidious' franchise. Earlier films focused on Josh Lambert (Patrick Wilson) and his wife, Renai (Rose Byrne), as they fought to free their possessed son, Dalton (Ty Simpkins), from malevolent spirits residing in the dark astral plane known as 'The Further.' The latest installment is written and directed by Jacob Chase. He also came up with the story alongside David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick. The title serves as a sequel to 2023's 'Insidious: The Red Door,' which concluded the Lambert family saga. However, fans now wonder whether Wilson and Byrne will return to the latest installment.

John and Renai Lambert were the protagonists of the first two films from the franchise. However, they were missing in Chapter 3 (2015) as the prequel film was set three years before the Lambert family haunting and focused on the teenager Quinn Brenner. Wilson and Byrne returned for the fourth film, titled 'Insidious: The Last Key' and the fifth movie, 'Insidious: The Red Door.' In 'Red Door,' Josh travels back into the Further to save himself and his teenage son, Dalton, from the Red-Face Demon and finally closes the Red Door by painting it black to keep the demon world away from humans. However, the post-credits scene depicted a light flickering ominously above the door, signaling more trouble from the 'Further.' However, since Josh and Renai's storyline was wrapped up in the last film, the actors are unlikely to return for the upcoming title. Moreover, their involvement has not been officially announced, so it's safe to assume they won't be a part of 'Out of the Further.'

The upcoming film will introduce brand new characters and feature an entirely new cast, as seen in the recently released trailer of 'Insidious: Out of the Further.' The film's official premise states, "When young single mother Gemma discovers she can travel into The Further and also bring what lives there back to the real world, she becomes targeted by evil spirits and demons who plan to use her powers." Amelia Eve stars as Gemma and is joined by Brandon Perea, Maisie Richardson-Sellers, Island Austin, Laura Gordon, and Sam Spruell. The trailer begins with a terrifying visit to the dentist, and Gemma is later seen having disturbing dreams as she says, "We were really happy until I started having these dreams. I’m scaring my daughter. I need someone to tell me how to stop this."

She must seek help from Lin Shaye, who played the psychic medium Elise Rainier in all five films of the franchise. She reprises her role in the movie and is the only connecting thread to the previous films. She is a gifted paranormal investigator who helps families fight against the evil spirits from the 'Further.' As such, she acts as a bridge between the living world of humans and the lost souls trapped in the Further.
