Madonna teases her role in ‘The Studio’ Season 2 and she might be the perfect addition to the Apple TV+ hit
Madonna appears to be stepping back into on-screen acting. The global pop icon recently teased her involvement in Season 2 of ‘The Studio’, the hit comedy led by Seth Rogen. The hint was dropped casually on her Instagram Story on March 17. In the post, Madonna is seen sitting in a gondola gliding through Venice’s canals, holding what looks like a script. Notably, the caption reads, “The Italian job.” Add to that a handful of paparazzi shots of her around what’s believed to be the show’s European set, and suddenly it’s not speculation anymore. Now, whether she’s playing herself or stepping into a fictional role remains under wraps.
Season 1 of ‘The Studio’ included many surprise appearances, with big names popping up as exaggerated versions of themselves. That list included Martin Scorsese, Charlize Theron, Zoë Kravitz, Ice Cube, Ron Howard, Zac Efron, Ted Sarandos, and Ramy Youssef, among others. So if Madonna follows that pattern, viewers can expect something bold and maybe a little cheeky. The series itself revolves around Matt Remick, played by Rogen. He is a film executive who lands a top job at the fictional Continental Studios and realizes that running the show is a lot messier than it seems from the outside. It’s a comedy, yes, but it doesn’t shy away from highlighting just how strange the business can get once you’re inside it. And casting Madonna, even in a guest capacity, feels like a perfect fit for that world.
She’s not just a music legend; she’s someone who has spent decades shaping, bending, and occasionally breaking the rules of fame. So, seeing her step into a series that pokes fun at Hollywood’s inner workings almost feels like a full-circle moment. Behind the camera, the show continues to be driven by Rogen and his longtime collaborator Evan Goldberg, along with co-creators Peter Huyck, Alex Gregory, and Frida Perez. The creative team sticks around for Season 2, which helps maintain the tone that made the first installment such a hit.
The returning cast also keeps things grounded amid all the celebrity cameos. Kathryn Hahn, Ike Barinholtz, and Chase Sui Wonders are back, while Bryan Cranston continues his recurring role. While there's no official release date from Apple TV+ yet, production timelines offer a rough idea. Filming for Season 2 began earlier this year in January, and if the turnaround follows a similar path to the first season, then early 2027 seems like a reasonable guess.
