Dan Levy opens up on Season 2 of Netflix's comedy thriller 'Big Mistakes': 'A big old...'
This story contains spoilers from 'Big Mistakes' Season 1.
Dan Levy revisits family dysfunction and sibling rivalry in his latest Netflix comedy, following the success of 'Schitt's Creek.' In 'Big Mistakes,' Levy and Taylor Ortega play a pair of incompetent siblings from New Jersey who stumble into the world of organized crime. The crime comedy series is co-created by Levy and Rachel Sennott, who also serve as executive producers alongside Ann-Marie McGintee, Dean Holland, Etan Frankel, and Timothy Greenberg. The eight-part series premiered on Thursday. However, 'Big Mistakes' hasn't been renewed for Season 2 yet, but the series creator has exciting plans for the show's next installment if Netflix decides to move forward with the renewal.
TV Insider caught up with Levy at the show's premiere to discuss his plans for a potential Season 2. The Canadian writer-director-actor already has a clear vision for the show's next chapter. "Oh, I know exactly what I want to see in the second season of the show. A lot of the show is written in my head at this point. All I know is that if we are given the opportunity to tell a second season, it’s going to be bigger and better, and I can’t wait to get back to the writer’s room because we have a big old story to tell," he told the outlet. Levy's pastor, Nicky Dardano, and his sister, Morgan, get unwittingly pulled into a web of organized crime following a series of mistakes in Netflix's comedy thriller. Their foray into crime begins when Morgan steals a diamond necklace from under the store clerk, Yusuf's nose, to gift her dying grandmother.
But Yusuf, revealed to be the Russian crime boss Ivan's henchman, tracks down the siblings and forces them to return the necklace. However, the duo gets blackmailed into running small errands for Ivan and his boss, the Italian mobsters. Their forced involvement goes beyond running simple errands as the duo is forced to attend a high-stakes meeting with the Brazilian drug cartel in Miami, which culminates in a shootout. The siblings miraculously escape unscathed and return to New Jersey to resume their lives free from crime. In the end, the necklace returns to its rightful owner: Annette, the mother of Morgan’s fiancé, Max. She threatens the duo to work for her criminal enterprise, bringing them back to square one.
In 'Big Mistakes,' Dan Levy stars as Nicky, while Taylor Ortega plays his sister, Morgan, and Laurie Metcalf stars as their mother, Linda Morelli. Boran Kuzum as Yusuf, Jack Innanen as Max, and Abby Quinn as Natalie round out the show's main cast. The recurring cast includes Elizabeth Perkins as Annette, Jacob Gutierrez as Tareq, Joe Barbara as Mike, Mark Ivanir as Ivan, and Josh Fadem as Ashley. Furthermore, Levy also serves as the showrunner of the series. Fans can watch all eight episodes of 'Big Mistakes' on Netflix.
