‘Schitt’s Creek’ finds new streaming home after Catherine O’Hara’s death — here's how to watch
The iconic Catherine O'Hara will always be linked to the feel-good and nostalgic 'Home Alone' movie series. However, the actress also earned lavish praise for her portrayal of Moira Rose in the hit sitcom, 'Schitt's Creek'. O'Hara played an eccentric soap opera celebrity and was known for her faux-upper-class style of talking.
Now, fans can get to watch O'Hara and the 19-time Emmy-nominated series on HBO Max. According to a statement from the streamer, "The award-winning comedy series SCHITT’S CREEK will be available to stream in its entirety on HBO Max in the U.S. this Saturday, February 7."
The logline reads, "The beloved comedy follows rich video-store magnate Johnny Rose, his soap-star wife Moira, and their two kids, son David and socialite daughter Alexis. When they lose their fortune and suddenly find themselves broke, they are forced to leave their pampered lifestyle behind and regroup in the quirky small town of Schitt’s Creek." The cast includes Eugene Levy, Catherine O’Hara, Dan Levy, and Annie Murphy. Dan Levy and Eugene Levy serve as the show's creators.
Soon after her death on January 30 this year, Eugene paid a wholesome and emotional tribute to the actress. “Words seem inadequate to express the loss I feel today,” Eugene Levy said in a statement to People on Jan 30. “I had the honor of knowing and working with the great Catherine O’Hara for over fifty years."
"From our beginnings on the Second City stage, to SCTV, to the movies we did with Chris Guest, to our six glorious years on 'Schitt’s Creek,' I cherished our working relationship, but most of all our friendship,” the actor continued. “And I will miss her. My heart goes out to Bo, Matthew, Luke, and the entire O’Hara family."
"What a gift to have gotten to dance in the warm glow of Catherine O’Hara’s brilliance for all those years," Dan Levy said on Instagram. "Having spent over fifty years collaborating with my Dad, Catherine was extended family before she ever played my family. It’s hard to imagine a world without her in it. I will cherish every funny memory I was fortunate enough to make with her."
'Schitt's Creek' is streaming on HBO Max.
