'Landman' Season 3 will see Tommy starting over while one character faces life outside her 'comfort zone'
‘Landman’ is gearing up for another round, and this time the story may shake the Norris family harder than ever. The much-loved drama from Taylor Sheridan and Christian Wallace is officially returning for a third season on Paramount+ this November. And if early hints are anything to go by, one particular member of the Norris clan could be heading straight into rough waters. At the center of the series is Billy Bob Thornton as Tommy Norris. He’s a tough, sharp-tongued oil executive who spends most of his time juggling corporate battles, land deals, and the unpredictable reality of the energy business in West Texas.
Things weren't exactly smooth sailing for Tommy in the first two seasons. By the end of Season 2, his professional life had been turned upside down. After losing his position at M-Tex Oil, Tommy found himself forced to regroup, pick up the pieces, and build a new company alongside a handful of loyal partners who stuck by him. Season 3 will pick up right after that turning point, showing how Tommy tries to get his footing again in an industry where fortunes swing dramatically depending on oil prices, rival companies, and sometimes plain luck. And the personal side of his life? Not exactly calm either. While Tommy’s business moves remain a huge part of the show, the next season might put a spotlight on another member of the family: Ainsley Norris, played by Michelle Randolph.
By the time the second season wrapped up, Ainsley had packed her bags and left home for college. She enrolled at Texas Christian University and joined the school’s cheerleading team. It looked like a clean break from the noise and stress surrounding her father’s world in the Permian Basin. However, Randolph recently teased that Ainsley’s time away from home could reveal a completely different side of the character. The actress told The Hollywood Reporter, “We know who Ainsley is when she’s around her family and comfortable. So I’m looking forward to seeing and discovering who she is when she goes to college and she’s around her peers and out of her comfort zone.”
In other words, the training wheels might be coming off, and college storylines rarely stay drama-free. ‘Landman’ has built a strong audience since it first arrived in November 2024 on Paramount+. The show pulled in impressive streaming numbers, reaching around 1.77 billion minutes viewed during the week leading up to the Season 2 finale. So the renewal wasn’t much of a surprise. While the network hasn’t revealed a specific premiere date just yet, Season 3 is confirmed to arrive in November and will once again comprise 10 episodes.
