‘Landman’ Season 3 gets encouraging release update after record-breaking Season 2 finale
Well, that finale barely had time to cool down before fans started asking the next obvious question. What now, and how soon can we get back to West Texas chaos? ‘Landman’ wrapped up Season 2 with the kind of ending that doesn’t really feel like an ending at all. It’s more like someone slamming a door and then cracking it open just enough to remind you this story is far from finished. In case you didn’t know, the Paramount+ oil drama from Taylor Sheridan and Christian Wallace has officially been renewed for Season 3. The show has steadily become one of the streamer’s biggest success stories. Season 2 pushed all of that further.
And we've the stats to back that up. Paramount+ confirmed the renewal back in December 2025, though the platform stayed silent on an exact return date. Still, the numbers alone explain why the network had no hesitation. According to Paramount+, the Season 2 premiere drew 9.2 million global views in its first two days. That figure represents a staggering 262% increase over the series debut in Season 1. Those aren’t just good stats; those are franchise-building stats. So when does Season 3 arrive? If past patterns are any indication, the wait might not be too painful. Season 1 began filming in February 2024 and debuted on November 17 of that same year.
Season 2 followed a similar path, starting production in April 2025 and landing on November 16. Sam Elliott, who joined the show in Season 2 as Tommy Norris’ father, recently hinted at what’s ahead while speaking with Extra TV. According to him, cameras are expected to roll again sometime in April or May of 2026. If that schedule holds steady, a mid-November 2026 premiere feels like a very safe bet. Not official. But close enough to circle in pencil. Behind the scenes, questions about Sheridan’s workload always come up. It’s because he writes every episode himself while handling multiple shows. For now, ‘Landman’ fans can breathe easy.
Sheridan is going to stay involved with the series through at least 2029, even with a future move to NBCUniversal already lined up. This means there’s room for several more seasons if the audience sticks around. Furthermore, Billy Bob Thornton isn’t going anywhere either. The Season 2 finale ended with Tommy Norris getting forced out of M-Tex by Demi Moore’s calculating Cami Miller, only to turn around and start his own company, CTT Oil Exploration and Cattle. Some fans wondered whether that exit meant Thornton might step back slowly. Not a chance. Thornton told USA Today, “I plan to stay on the show for as long as they’ll have me.”
Also, he’s signed a multi-year deal that could stretch four or five years. Elliott’s contract spans two seasons, so his return feels locked in. Ali Larter, Michelle Randolph, Jacob Lofland, Michelle Randolph, Paulina Chavez, Kayla Wallace, James Jordan, and Colm Feore are all positioned to continue their roles. Then there’s Moore’s Cami Miller. Co-creator Wallace teased Variety that, “There is a lot more story left to tell with Cami. Taylor has big plans, that’s all I’m going to say.” Which probably means trouble. The fun kind.
