Why is 'The Curse Of Oak Island' Season 8 Episode 13 not airing this week? Here's what to expect when show returns
Sorry Oakies, no episode of your favorite treasure-hunting show today. 'The Curse Of Oak Island' will now return on February 9 with what promises to be a very exciting episode... because... we're one step closer to the treasure. You might have heard this a million times throughout the course of the show, but this time the Laginas really seem to mean it.
The synopsis reads, "As the team follows the trajectory of the mysterious stone pathway in the swamp, they discover an elusive piece of Oak Island lore; Gary uncovers evidence suggesting a treasure was — or is — nearby."
Well, in Season 8, the Laginas have been trying to uncover a lot of mysteries, all simultaneously, including the stone pathway in the swamp, the serpent mound and finding unusual artifacts as well oxen feet that fuelled the theory of whether the oxen were used to offload treasure into the Money Pit.

In the middle, there was a small deviation as Erin Helton put across the idea that they had been looking at the wrong area for the Money Pit all along and she was dead sure that she knew where it was. Unfortunately, the team could not find the tunnel that she said existed and told her to go and revise her theory again.
Season 8 has shown that there are hints of gold on Oak Island and the treasure-hunters are determined to find it. In the premiere of Season 8, the team did find something suspicious-looking — gold in the murky depths of the island. They sent a diver down there to investigate and the diver let the shiny coin-like structure slip through his fingers. So, the coin plunged even further and we still don't know what it was.
In Episode 11, Gary Drayton discovered "gold" till Laird had to tell him that it was just gold paint. However, it turns out, the artifact was from a chest and it could be a treasure chest. They might have also found a connection between the mound and the swamp. There are a lot of mysteries that the island holds close to its chest and the team is doggedly trying to solve them all.
They're convinced that there has been a lot of activity on the island: Knight's Templar to British industrialists, Chinese people from 900 AD, pirates, to Spanish and French cavalry burying treasure there. The theories have taken a life of their own this season and Erin Helton's boulder theory was just one of them.
Tune into 'The Curse Of Oak Island' on History Channel on Tuesdays at 9 pm.
