There was so much in this episode, that fans still can't process it. For starters, the team found a key. Could it be the key to the treasure vault? The team is 'gobsmacked' by their discovery and are mulling over numerous theories. For the past few episodes, they've been sure that they're close to the Money Pit and going by the looks of it, they might have just found it at long last. This key is an exciting discovery for them...not for fans, who remain skeptical as ever. Rick Lagina is sure that they're on the right path to solving the treasure mystery that has been plaguing researchers, scholars and historians since the 1790s.

The question remains, is it really a key?

Here's what the fans have got to say. "I'm gobsmacked over at lever wit a square ole in it," a fan tweeted, making fun of the team as usual. Another wrote that it looks like an Ikea tool. "Come on...it looks like an IKEA tool! #OakIslandCursers #curseofoakisland," the fan wrote.  "Gary Drayton has discovered something...that could be...a moderately interesting discovery," another tweeted. Other fans couldn't help laughing at the 'inane' discoveries the team has been making throughout the course of the show. "#curseofoakisland #oakislandcursers If I made a parody show of Oak Island, I would need a good sounding voice that could make the same 10 statements over and over, 100 pieces of cloth, leather and nails, a few coins and 100 snarkers... Let's do it!!" a fan tweeted. "On an alien planet there is a prank TV show where they plant random shit on the island. whichever alien team gets the #curseofoakisland boys to spend the most money chasing their planted item wins," another tweeted.

Fans want to go back to the serpent mound, as they feel that would be a more productive dig. "Can we go back to the Serpent Mound....I feel like we might be more productive there.," one tweeted. Others had some legit questions. "Another question: if there are so many booby traps around the money pit, how did the first searcher teams get so much further than this team with the modern technology at their disposal? #OakIslandCursers #CurseofOakIsland," one asked. Meanwhile, the team theorizes the shoe they discovered is from 1492, and Rick makes a joke that Christopher Columbus sailed to the island. Of course, fans didn't let that one go. "Columbus sailed the ocean blue in 1492... yeah, that’s right, m’fers. OakIslandCursers #CurseofOakIsland," a fan tweeted. "1492 COLUMBUS SAILED THE OCEAN BLUE. TO OAK ISLAND?," another asked.
