Why did Shake Chatterjee turn down 'Perfect Match'? Reality star still beefing with host Nick Lachey
CHICAGO, ILLINOIS: Netflix announced earlier this year the debut of its new dating series 'Perfect Match', which will include all of your favorite Netflix Original cast members. During the announcement, Abishek "Shake" Chatterjee disclosed that he had been invited to be a part of the show but had rejected it.
If 'Love Island' isn't cutting it, Netflix is releasing a brand-new 12-part dating series just in time for Valentine's Day. 'Perfect Match' arrives at the streaming platform on February 14 with a new format to sink your teeth into. Nick Lachey, who also hosts 'Love Is Blind' and 'The Ultimatum,' hosts the show. Reality stars from 'Love is Blind,' 'The Mole,' and other shows will flock to a villa in search of romance.

Why did Shake Chatterjee say no to 'Perfect Match'?
When 'Perfect Match' premieres on Netflix on February 14, several reality stars from various Netflix shows will converge under one roof, but Shake Chatterjee from 'Love Is Blind' Season 2 will not be one of them after turning down the opportunity to participate. Shake, who proposed to Deepti Vempati on 'Love Is Blind' last year, swiftly became one of 2022's greatest reality television villains after their brief engagement ended in disaster.
In a screenshot, he posted the email he received along with his reasons for not doing the show. Despite Shake's divisive reaction among Netflix users, the streaming giant invited him to join their next series 'Perfect Match', in which a group of singles from shows such as 'Too Hot To Handle,' 'Love Is Blind,' and 'The Circle' will try to make new connections and find love. Shake lost fans' support in Season 2 of 'Love Is Blind' for his behavior toward cast member Deepti Vempati. Nonetheless, he was approached and pondered joining the new Netflix dating series.
While fan favorites like 'The Circle' winner Joey Sasso, Chloe Veitch, and Francesca Farago consented to temporarily put their lives on hold, Shake disclosed in an Instagram Story that he rejected the spot on 'Perfect Match' because he would have to cross paths with Nick Lachey.
"Happy for my friends on Perfect Match, but there was no way I was gonna participate [with] that clown Nick Lachey," Shake told his fans, along with a clown face emoji. "Backed out as soon as I found out he was involved." Shake shared an email from Netflix's production team in October 2021, in which they wanted him to conduct a background check, to establish that he was scouted for 'Perfect Match' after 'Love Is Blind' Season 2 was recorded in mid-2021. "I know that you are finalizing your contract...upon execution of your contract, please complete the background check before the end of the weekend," the sender urged.
What happened between Shake Chatterjee and Nick Lachey?
Since filming 'Love Is Blind' Season 2 last year, Nick has been on Shake's bad side. Shake accused Nick of being unfair, said that he was only attracted to Vanessa, and blamed the 'Love Is Blind' production staff for being deceptive during the explosive reunion. Shake has repeatedly blasted Nick and other 'Love Is Blind' participants on social media since then, making it quite apparent that he is no admirer of the former 98 Degrees member.
'Perfect Match' will be available on Netflix on February 14, kicking off the love season.
