'Love is Blind': Shake claims he isn't attracted to Deepti, fans compare him to 'a sewer rat'

Netflix's dating show 'Love is Blind' was conceptualized around the idea to remove all the distractions so that the singles on the show can fall in love with a person for who they are rather than what they look like. Unlike most singles on the show, Abhishek "Shake" Chatterjee was finding it a bit difficult to grasp the concept. Shake was still focused on the physical looks of his fellow cast members as he attempted to form connections.

The 33-year-old veterinarian/ DJ revealed that he only dated blonde girls. While trying to interact with other singles on the show, instead of trying to get to know them better, Shake kept attempting to gauge how they looked and what they weighed. During his conversation with Deepti Vempati he coyly asked her if they were to attend a music festival together if he would be able to lift her on his shoulders. While the veterinarian thought that he was being very sneaky in finding out her weight and trying to visualize how she looked, Deepti however figured out what he was up to and called him out for it.

Eventually, Shake felt bad for being so shallow in his approach to getting to know a person. So during his next interaction with her he revealed that he was a chubby kid and realized that he only dated hot women to compensate for it. He apologized to Deepti and assured her that he would be more open-minded. Soon the couple fell in love with each other and Shake popped the big question. Deepti happily said yes to him and their first in-person meeting was filled with fireworks as he couldn't take his eyes off her. By the end of their brief meeting Shake declared that he would get Deepti pregnant and have babies with her.

Unfortunately, Shake's redemption arc was very short-lived as after Deepti and he landed in Mexico for a couples retreat, he came to the realization that he wasn't physically attracted to her. He confided in his co-stars that whenever he was with Deepti it felt like he was with his aunt. He began questioning his decision to be in a relationship with her, while Deepti began to catch feelings for him. 

After fans watched Shake do a 180 on his feelings toward Deepti, many of them took to Twitter to call him out. Fans couldn't understand how Shake wasn't attracted to Deepti. A fan tweeted, "Shake on love is blind can catch these hands bc how is he talking about Deepti like that when he's the one looking like one of the sewer rats from ratatouille #LoveIsBlind." Another fan wrote, "Not shake telling them hes not attracted to deepti!! Saying she feels like his aunt i done throw him all the way away #loveisblind." "This girl looks like Megan markle when this shake shack has the personality of a button to ask would i struggle having you on my shoulders #LoveIsBlind yeah I’m pissed," added a fan.

Another fan commented, "Abishek is out of his goddamn mind about not being physically attracted to Deepti, she's so beautiful. #LoveIsBlind." "Is Shake really talking about Deepti as if she isn’t hot! Am I looking at the same Deepti as him?! #LoveIsBlind," wondered a puzzled fan. "Shake is a loser. Deepti deserves better. #LoveIsBlind," declared a fan.

Even though Shake realized that it could be his commitment phobia that's making him question his feelings for Deepti, it remains to be seen if he'll be able to move past it and work on building a strong and healthy relationship with her.
