Who will Phylicia Rashad play on 'Grey's Anatomy'? Debbie Allen's sister to unleash 'true power' in guest role

'Grey's Anatomy' Season 17 is all set to bring us sibling rivalry at its finest. Debbie Allen, who stars as the sensual Catherine Fox on the show, will be joined by her real-life sister Phylicia Rashad on the show. Rashad, of course, is a screen legend who fans will know from iconic roles on 'The Cosby Show' and more recently as Beth's disciplinarian mother on 'This is Us'. Rashad’s TV work also includes 'Psych', 'Empire' and 'Do No Harm'.

But while it would have been wonderful to see both sisters together on screen, unfortunately, Debbie Allen and Phylicia Rashad will not be sharing any screen space on 'Grey's Anatomy', at least for now.

Debbie in an interview with TV Line said, "My sister Phylicia Rashad will appear in [Episode 12] and bring true power, fun and grace in a role that touches a chord about the voice of the people. Our cast and crew gave her a standing ovation in honor of her presence. I gave her a slice of cornbread.”

Interestingly, this is not Rashad's first foray into the world of 'Grey's Anatomy'. Last season Rashad's voice was featured in an episode of the sister series 'Station 19'. We're hoping that as Debbie Allen takes over the 'Grey's Anatomy' Instagram page, we will see some interesting behind-the-scenes footage of the two sisters on set, if not on screen together.

At the moment though it seems that Debbie already has her hands full with plenty of requests from fans. One fan on Instagram said, "WE NEED MERDER BTS THX DEBBIE." Some fans are worried for Debbie though. One fan on Instagram posted, "When Dr Bailey took over Twitter, her mom died in that episode, so out of respect, I don’t trust y’all lol."

Another fan on Instagram said, "Y'ALL SCARED ME I THOUGHT Y'ALL KILLED HER TOO." Well, we're certainly looking forward to what Debbie Allen has to share on Instagram with 'Grey's Anatomy' fans and what her sister Phylicia has to share in terms of her performance on the show.

You can catch new episodes of 'Grey's Anatomy' on Thursdays at 9/8c on ABC.
