Fans think it is Catherine's insecurities that's making her behave the way she is

Who would have thought that sassy Catherine Fox (Debbie Allen) would turn petty? Well, unless you are a 'Grey's Anatomy' writer, you generally don't think that way.

The show is famous for family dinners and Episode 12 of Season 16 was just one example. Richard Webber (James Pickens Jr) and Catherine have decided to separate and they want to tell their children — Jackson (Jesse Williams) and Maggie (Kelly McCreary). Catherine has cold feet and tries patching up with Richard, who tells her that it is 'too little, too late'.

He's hurt because she didn't stand by him when he was fired from Grey Sloane and didn't support him when he joined Pac North, a struggling hospital. To make matters worse, she is sure that he is having an affair with an old patient. At the end of the episode, Catherine throws a curveball at Richard, saying that she plans to buy Pac North or she could just shut it down.

Fans are rather perplexed and raining anger on social media about this. One wrote, "Catherine is turning into a horrible character. SHE is the one who refused to apologize to her husband for jumping to wild conclusions and for the whole firing incident. all richard wanted was an apology. that was it. and she couldn't give it."

Another tweeted, "Here's how i see it — catherine will end up buying grey sloan and shutting it down and that will be the end of the show. then the characters we like, like richard, jackson, bailey etc will go & stay at pac north, where they can be featured on Station 19. just watch."

"Catherine that was a real shitty move. Thanks for proving why Richard should have no regrets in divorcing your hateful ass. Adele would never," tweeted an angry fan, referring to Richard's late wife, Adele.

"Catherine has been so unfair to Richard. He did nothing wrong. It’s her own insecurities that are causing them to separate," wrote another fan.

Another wrote, "Can someone help me understand why the Averys have been treating Richard and Maggie like crap for months?? I’m confused."

Episode 12 of 'Grey's Anatomy' Season 16 titled 'The Last Supper' aired on February 6, ABC.
