BEVERLY HILLS, CALIFORNIA: Kyle Richards is remembering her late mother Kathleen Richards on what would have been her 86th birthday!

On April 17, 2024, 'The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills' star took to her Instagram page to pay a heartfelt tribute to her mom, Kathleen, who was a New York-based casting director and a doting mother of three including Kyle Richards, Kim Richards, and Kathy Hilton. 

Kyle posted a series of throwback pictures of her family on her Instagram page which also featured Paris Hilton and Nicky Hilton. 

"Happy Birthday Mom Miss you every day," she wrote in the caption of the Instagram post. 

Soon after, Mauricio Umansky stopped by the comments section of the post and left a comment that read, 'Happy birthday', meanwhile Kathy Hilton commented, "Happy Heavenly Birthday Mom. You are our Angel.. I love you and we all miss very much."

On the other hand, when we talk about Nicky Hilton, she drops a couple of white heart emojis in the comments. 

And now, the netizens are talking about the uncanny resemblance between Kyle Richards and her late mom, Kathleen Richards.

One social media user wrote, "I didn’t realize how much you look like her!."

Another user chimed in, "She’s gOrGeOuS!!! Beautiful pictures of y’all Kyle!!! You look the most like her."

A third user commented, "You look so much like your Mom Auntie Kyle. So pretty love all the pictures."

Followed by a fourth user who penned, "You look like your Mama."

A fifth user quipped, "Love these photos I do see a lot of her in you looking at these pics!"

How did Kyle Richards’ mom Kathleen Richards die?

For those of you who are unaware, let us share with you, Kyle Richards'  late mother Kathleen Richards passed away in 2002 after a battle with breast cancer.

In the past, the Bravo star has openly talked about her mother Kathleen's cancer diagnosis and how her death affected her.

During an episode of 'The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills' which aired in 2019, Kyle decided to undergo a mammogram, a medical procedure aimed at detecting breast cancer, and subsequently chose to openly discuss and disclose her motivations for sharing this deeply personal experience with the show's viewers.

"I lost my mom to breast cancer in 2002. The fact that she hadn’t had a mammogram in 5 years haunts me. I wanted to show this to bring awareness regarding early detection and as a reminder to get checked. I was scared to do this with cameras but felt it was important," she wrote on X formerly known as Twitter.

While making an appearance on the 'Let's Talk Off Camera with Kelly Ripa' podcast on March 27, Kyle Richards delved deeper into her upbringing and the dynamic she shared with her mother.

Throughout their conversation, she provided additional insights into the distinct nature of her daughter's relationship, which starkly contrasts with the one she experienced growing up alongside her siblings, Kathy and Kim Richards.

“They [my daughters] could not be more different than my sisters and me,” she shared on the podcast.

Kyle then went on to disclose some of the mistakes her mother had made, particularly in the frequent habit of comparing Kathy, Kim, and herself to each other.

“I do remember her saying, ‘Why don’t you do this like so and so?’ To Kim, ‘Why don’t you do what Kyle does?’ Things like that,” Kyle added.

While appearing on Megan Kelly's show to promote her show 'American Woman', Kyle Richards spilled the beans on the debut episode of the show and mentioned that her father Kenneth Richards cheated on her mother Kathleen Richards, and abandoned her with no money.

“At that time, my mom was all of a sudden suddenly single,” Kyle said, as per People magazine.

Kyle further added, "She didn’t know about money or what they had — she didn’t even have a checkbook. So when I was 10 years old, my mom got me a checkbook and I was allowed to have my ‘unemployment checks’ from my TV shows.”

“She opened a checking account for me. She wanted me to take control and learn from a young age how to look after myself because she didn’t like finding herself in that position in the ’70s. … It’s not easy being a single mom, whether you’re in the ’70s or today!" she continued.

Kyle said, “My mom was a very strong, outspoken woman and in that time, women weren’t supposed to be like that. Now it’s like, ‘boss lady’ — that’s a term now. But in the ’70s, if you were strong and opinionated and outspoken, it was looked down upon. And my mom was that woman — very strong.”
