LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Eli Roth's horror thriller 'Thanksgiving' emerged from the third fake trailer from ‘Grindhouse’ film to become a full-length feature.

The trailer, initially released in 2007, showcases numerous gruesome horror elements, including a masked maniac causing chaos during Thanksgiving.

A full-length movie adaptation of Eli Roth's fictional ‘Thanksgiving’ trailer from ‘Grindhouse’ was released on November 17, 2023. It was added to Netflix on February 17, 2024.

'Thanksgiving' presents the historical figure John Carver as the killer, adding a colonial twist and sparking curiosity about his true identity.

Who was John Carver?

'Thanksgiving' sheds light on the killer who causes mayhem on Thanksgiving. In Eli Roth's ‘Thanksgiving’ movie, the killer adopts the persona of John Carver.

According to the World History Encyclopedia, John Carver served as the inaugural governor of the Plymouth Colony, the first permanent English settlement in the modern Massachusetts area.

He was a notable member of the separatist congregation in Leiden, the Netherlands. When traveling aboard the Mayflower, he performed the duties of governor of the Plymouth Colony.

Between 1620 and 1691, worsening relations between English settlers in the Plymouth Colony and Wampanoag leaders wreaked havoc, as reported by the World History Encyclopedia.

According to the Library of Congress, John Carver was able to sign a peace treaty with Massasoit, the leader of the Wampanoag Confederacy, setting the foundation for The First Thanksgiving.

John Carver died months before The First Thanksgiving

Although John Carver played a crucial role in establishing the relationship between the English settlers and the Wampanoag leaders, he died before The First Thanksgiving.

He had a headache while working in the fields and went into a coma. He died only a few days later and the Plymouth Colony buried him with a large amount of fanfare, as reported by Mayflower 400.

'Thanksgiving' is now streaming on Netflix.
