'Mother of the Bride': Cast and character guide on who's playing who in Netflix's rom-com film
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: On May 9, 2024, Netflix is set to drop an American romantic-comedy film perfect for a relaxing weekend indoors. Titled 'Mother of the Bride', the film is directed by Mark Waters and written by Robin Bernheim.
It centers on Lana whose young daughter Emma returns from London and stuns her with the news that she's getting married in a month in Thailand. Things turn chaotic when she discovers that Emma's husband-to-be is the son of the man who broke her heart years ago.
The official synopsis for 'Mother of the Bride' reads, "A doting mom jets off to a tropical island resort for her daughter's wedding — only to discover the groom's father is the ex she hasn't seen in decades."

Brooke Shields as Lana
Brooke Shields, 58, is set to play the lead role in 'Mother of the Bride'. She will appear as Lana and her character will take the center stage amid the family drama and twisted romantic angles.
In 1996, Shields appeared in popular sitcom 'Friends' where she played Joey Tribbiani's stalker. Her brief appearance landed her the title role of the NBC sitcom 'Suddenly Susan', for which she received two Golden Globe nominations.
She has also featured in 'Lipstick Jungle' and 'Law & Order: Special Victims Unit'.
Miranda Cosgrove as Emma
30-year-old Miranda Consgrove will play Emma (Lana's daughter) in the Netflix film.
Consgrove is popularly known for playing Megan Parker in 'Drake & Josh' (2004–2007) and Carly Shay in 'iCarly' (2007–2012) and its revival run (2021–2023).
She has also played leading roles in films such as 'The Intruders' (2015) and 'North Hollywood' (2021).
Benjamin Bratt as Will
'Blood In, Blood Out' fame Benjamin Bratt is most likely to play Will, Lana's ex-lover and soon-to-be Emma's father-in-law.
The 60-year-old actor's remarkable filmography includes 'Catwoman' (2004), ‘Despicable Me 2' (2013), and 'Snitch' (2013).
Chad Michael Murray as Lucas

Chad Michael Murray will play Lucas in the upcoming film. Murray is popularly known for playing Lucas Scott in teen drama 'One Tree Hill' (2003–09, 2012), and Tristin DuGray in 'Gilmore Girls' (2000–01).
His most recent on-screen appearance was in 2022 film 'Fortress: Sniper's Eye', directed by Josh Sternfeld.
