GREVE IN CHIANTI, ITALY: In the 'Fixer to Fabulous: Italiano' show, homeowners take on the responsibility of financing the renovations for the projects.

'Fixer to Fabulous' show chronicles the adventures of Dave and Jenny Marrs, proud residents of Bentonville, Arkansas. With a knack for restoring classic homes, this dynamic couple skillfully turns outdated historic houses into timeless and charming forever homes.

Contrary to common assumptions, being on a show like 'Fixer to Fabulous' doesn't mean a free renovation.

Homeowners are responsible for funding the projects, although HGTV may provide some "construction funds" to enhance and expedite the projects for television, according to Betsy Ayala, the senior vice president of production & development for HGTV.

However, despite being an out-of-pocket expense, the primary allure for homeowners is the opportunity to collaborate with talented builders and designers like Dave and Jenny Marrs.

As outlined in the 'Fixer to Fabulous: Italiano' show's official casting application, homeowners must have a renovation fund of at least $120,000. Additionally, they are required to provide evidence of how the renovation will be financed, whether through cash, a loan, or any other means.

Similarly, when it comes to the furniture used in these homes, Jenny employs a design approach that combines existing furniture pieces with new elements. When existing furniture fits the vision, it's integrated into the design.

However, for additional items, Jenny collaborates with a local firm to create a customized plan for the clients. Homeowners then have the option to purchase the recommended pieces at a discounted rate.

Does the 'Fixer to Fabulous: Italiano' show have rules for applicants?

The casting application for 'Fixer to Fabulous: Italiano' states that the house must be within 30 miles of Bentonville, Arkansas, and not in Fayetteville due to permit restrictions.

Furthermore, applicants must be willing to move out of their homes for the seven- to nine-week renovation period. These rules help ensure that the show's renovations are feasible and align with the production requirements.

In this spinoff, the Marrs take on the picturesque Tuscan countryside, revamping a centuries-old villa for dear friends.

When friends of the Marrs family offered them a century-old villa in Greve in Chianti, Italy, in need of renovation, Dave and Jenny enthusiastically seized the chance to apply their expertise.

The series documents Dave and Jenny Marrs' return to Italy, where their love story began, as they embark on the restoration of a charming villa. Collaborating with local builders, architects, and artisans, they navigate the challenges posed by historic building regulations.

'Fixer to Fabulous: Italiano' premieres on Tuesday, March 12 at 8 pm ET.
