HGTV’s resourceful and creative couple, Dave and Jenny Marrs, are back with a new episode of Season 2 and they are renovating soon-to-be-married Joshua and Madison’s house. Now Madison is a fan of the renovation couple since she has seen them in work mode renovating her parents Mark and Alison’s home, so Dave and Jenny have a reputation to live up to. No Pressure!

Young couple Joshua and Madison met in college when they went to the same class together. Madison said Joshua was flirting with her and eventually they started dating. Once they passed out of college they decided to invest in a house before getting married. But the problem with the house in Madison’s words is, “It’s ugly.” The couple didn’t like the red bricks in the outside of the house, the interior was not feasible and the house was covered with shrubs that needed immediate trimming. They also have a dog and they bought their first house with a load they had taken.

First things first, as soon as Dave and Jenny had a thorough look at their house Jenny knew exactly what they needed to do. They wanted the front door to be repositioned in the center, create a new porch since the existing porch was old and the wood was rotting (as they found out later), a new roof needed to be added for the same reason. They needed to paint the ugly red brick, and add new landscaping.

Inside the house Jenny decided to add new flooring with light hardwood, open up the kitchen wall to turn it into a walk-in kitchen and make an island. The couple’s bedroom was perfect so all they decided to do was give it a fresh coat of paint, the attached washroom however was tiny so Jenny decided to cut space from the Kitchen to give them a nice walk-in shower that Madison anticipated.

The entire plan for renovation was laid out until it rained heavily the night before Dave and Jenny was going to start renovating the house. The backyard turned into a mini pool and the young homeowner didn’t have the budget to renovate it. Madison’s dad pitches in (Madison and Joshua) had no idea, and Dave installs a pump and a drainage system to take care of situations like heavy rain and flooding.

A quote Madison lives by is something her dad always said, “Might as well be awesome.” Jenny decides to incorporate that in the porch where she and Dave made a cool space with games and barbeque where the young couple could entertain guests.

The couple was thrilled to see the work and thought Dave and Jenny had put into the house. The cabinets in the pantry (that was non-existent) to the slide in TV in the drawing room blew their minds. The maximum optimization of space by incorporating drawers and slide in features was awesome and the young couple seemed very excited to start their life there.
