Who is Tonikaku Yasumura? 'BGT' finalist to wow 'America's Got Talent' Season 19 judges with his novelty act
TOKYO, JAPAN: 'America's Got Talent' Season 19 contestant Tonikaku Yasumura is a Japanese comedian who entertains the viewers with his naked poses. He has previously appeared on 'Britain's Got Talent' (BGT) Season 16 and reached its semifinal round. He performed a set of naked poses with different backdrops and props to set the scene for each pose.
Alesha Dixon complimented his novelty act and noted, "All the kids in tonight were looking forward to seeing you because you are so funny." Simon Cowell described him as "One of the funniest contestants we've ever had on our show." Sadly, he failed to move through the round and faced elimination after judges voted for Lilliana Clifton over Tonikaku.
After the elimination, Tonikaku competed in 'France's Got Talent' Season 18 but he was eliminated in the quarterfinals. He also appeared on the Italian competition series 'Tu Si Que Vales' Season 10. Additionally, Tonikaku recently competed in 'Germany's Got Talent' Season 16.
Tonikaku Yasumura makes a wildcard entry in 'BGT' Season 16
'Britain's Got Talent' Season 16 judges were regretting talented comedian Tonikaku Yasumura's elimination during the semifinal and wanted to award him another chance. Tonikaku was invited as the Wildcard act of the series during the finale. The Japanese comedian performed another entertaining set of "naked poses" in superhero costumes as well as impersonating Simon Cowell and the late Freddy Mercury.
Bruno Tonioli noted, "It was like an insane funny rhapsody." Alesha Dixon added, "You made me break my ring I laughed so hard." However, he didn't win the competition but did make history by becoming the first Japanese to reach the 'BGT' finale.

Japenese comedian Tonikaku Yasumura makes singing debut
Japenese comedian Tonikaku Yasumura has recently tried something new and made a singing career debut. The 'BGT' Season 16 alum released 'PANTS' in 2023. The comedian dropped his first-ever digital single under the name MC TONY. Tonikaku's single' was produced by Double Clapperz, a grime unit made up of producers UKD and Sinta.
The song played on the juxtaposition of its production and its lyrics. His debut single made it to chart at number 3 on iTunes' national hip-hop rap rankings. Tonikaku's song inspired the audience with a message wishing for peace in one piece. He recently organized a charity event and performed live at Manhattan Records. He donated the profits from the event sales to the affected areas of the 6th Noto Peninsula Earthquake.
'American's Got Talent' Season 19 will premiere on May 28 at 8 pm ET on NBC. New episodes will be available to stream next day on Peacock.
