Who is Ross Clayton?

Clayton lives with his wife and three children in McLoud, Oklahoma. The 33-year-old singer realized his passion for music after getting married. However, he took his music career seriously after he began to perform in open mics. He later left his home for a few years to perform at different venues in Nashville. However, Clayton abandoned his passion to stay home with his children. He joined a software development consulting company as a senior product manager and lived close to his family. He has not performed in the past five years but now he is ready to "take a chance." His wife has been his pillar of strength through thick and thin, and she encouraged him to audition for 'The Voice'.

Niall Horan begs Ross Clayton to Join his team

Clayton performed Keith Urban's song 'Blue Ain't Your Color'. Shelton was the first to turn his chair as he did not want to lose the talented contestant. After Blake, Clarkson turned followed by Horan and Chance. Clayton was the second contestant in the season premiere to have all the four-chair turn. Chance noted that he understood Clayton's journey of being a father but also understood his passion. Horan chimed in and said that Clayton was the contestant who he needed to pitch properly and needed privacy for the same. He then pressed the other coaches' buttons which had them turn back their chairs so the contestant could only see him. Praising Clayton, Horan said, "Your voice is absolutely incredible. You have that country tone to your voice, but to me, I was hearing so much soul. I came up on to a show like this when I was 16," adding, "Fans of mine in this room would really love to take you under their wing. So please." Following his pitch, Horan even bowed to request Clayton to pick him as the coach for the season. Eventually, he picked Horan, resulting in a big celebration as the coach received his first team member.
