Who is Neil Salsic? 'The Voice' Season 23 contestant joins 'Team Blake' after getting all four chairs turned
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'The Voice' Season 23 kicks off its auditions as Kelly Clarkson and Blake Shelton, along with new coaches Niall Horan and Chance the Rapper, bring their game to the 'The Voice' stage. 'Team Blake' has already got their first contestant but Blake had to trick the other coaches to get his first singer.
Neil Salsich was the first contestant of Season 23 who impressed all the coaches with Hank Williams' song 'Honky Tonk Blues'. All four judges turned their chairs for Neil but Kelly was blocked. While the former One Direction member wanted Neil to join his team, Neil chose to go with Team Blake. Notably, 'The Voice' Season 23 is Blake's final season.

Who is 'The Voice' Season 23 contestant Neil Salsich?
Neil belongs to south St. Louis and attended St. Margaret of Scotland School. He learned to operate his father's stereo when he was just six as he wanted to listen to 'Ramblin' Man' on repeat. However, when he turned 16 years old, Neil gave his first musical performance at Hartford Coffee. Soon after graduating from college, Neil discovered his love for music and formed a band called Acoustics Anonymous in 2012. Later, he changed the band's name to The Mighty Pines. Neil is now the lead singer of the band. Neil's band tours nationally and has supported many acts like The Dead South, Parker Millsap, Fruition, and Sam Bush, according to the official website of the band. Neil's band's music includes many elements of "country, folk, bluegrass, funk, soul, and jazz." Niel's popular hits include 'Late Last Night', 'Thoughts Come Rushing' and 'Time Slows Down'. The 34-year-old singer often covers folk, rock, and roll songs, but country music is extremely special to him.
Blake Shelton blocks Kelly Clarkson for Neil Salsich
Neil's soulful voice in the audition round got all four chairs turned. Blake was the first coach to turn his chair around with Kelly trying to follow only to realize that she was blocked by a fellow coach who later turned out to be Blake. He blocked Kelly just to prevent her from taking Neil and he succeeded as well. Niall and Chance The Rapper also wanted Neil to join their teams. Meanwhile, Kelly revealed that Blake used his only block of the season on her. Kelly gushed about Neil saying, "Your vibe is so cool man. It's like old-school country. Your falsetto was incredible. You also maintained this, like, throaty, like, raspiness that's really cool." She further added, "Just remember that blockhead Blake stole the opportunity away from us." Neill then told the judges he "drinks from many wells" of music and loves to genre hop. Neil picked Blake as his coach for this season.
