KOSOVO, BALKAN PENINSULA: 'American Idol' Season 22 star Kimi, originally from Kosovo and now residing in Brooklyn, shared an interesting anecdote about his mother's prediction.

According to him, his mother foresaw his future as an artist from the time he was born. She would tell him, "You're going to be an artist," and even noticed something distinctive in the way he cried as a baby. This unique insight from his mother adds a personal touch to Kimi's journey toward becoming a singer.

Kimi revealed that he started singing as young as six years old and has since honed his skills in English singing songs. He sang "Heal" by Tom Odell, expressing his desire to connect with people through his music.

Upon meeting the judges in person for the first time, he described the experience as surreal. He expressed to ABC7, "It felt like a dream, but I really needed someone to slap me." After enduring years of hardship, the moment was invigorating, making him feel alive.

The presence of stars like Lionel Richie, Katy Perry, and Luke Bryan left him momentarily star-struck, adding to the overall sense of awe and excitement. He actively indulges in singing, regularly participating in gigs and charity events with substantial attendance.

Moreover, he consistently shares covers of his favorite artists' songs on his social media platforms, exemplifying his deep passion for music and expanding his reach to a broader audience.

The singer has faced the challenging battle of grappling with depression and wrestling with suicidal thoughts. He bravely expressed, "I was suicidal," emphasizing the reality of depression and anxiety. However, he found solace in music, highlighting its significant role in helping him through those tough times.

His message to others is one of empathy and connection, aiming to reassure them that they are not alone in their struggles. He wants to break the silence surrounding mental health and hopes his music can serve as a means of connection for those who may be going through similar challenges.

"I want them to know that they are not alone. Sometimes you are going through things and they don't talk about it, they think that it is wrong, some people do talk about it, and some people decide to take their own lives, just like I wanted to, two years ago. So, I just want to connect to people through my music," he said to ABC7.

'American Idol' Season 22 premieres every Sunday at 8 pm ET on ABC.
