‘Hunting Wives’ brings back an iconic ‘O.C.’ villain for season 2 and the cast looks good
John Stamos, Cam Gigandet, and Dale Dickey are officially expanding the world of ‘The Hunting Wives,’ with all three actors signing on for the show’s upcoming second season. The Netflix thriller, which made a notable splash earlier this year, is currently in production in the United States. According to the series’ latest casting announcement, Stamos has been tapped to portray a character named Chase Brylan, while Dickey and Gigandet will play Zelda Moffitt and Gentle John Moffitt, respectively. Specific story details surrounding their roles are being kept under wraps.
Stamos remains widely recognized for his iconic turn as Jesse Katsopolis on ABC’s beloved family sitcom ‘Full House.’ He played the role throughout the show’s eight-season run from 1987 to 1995, as reported by Variety. He later reprised the character in Netflix’s sequel series ‘Fuller House,’ which ran for five seasons between 2016 and 2020. Beyond that franchise, Stamos has consistently reinvented himself across genres, with memorable appearances on NBC’s medical drama ‘ER,’ the psychological thriller ‘You’ (which aired on Lifetime before moving to Netflix), Disney+’s sports drama ‘Big Shot,’ and Apple TV+’s series ‘Palm Royale.’
Meanwhile, Dickey earned widespread recognition for her role as Merab in the Oscar-nominated 2010 film ‘Winter’s Bone.’ On television, she has left a lasting impression as Martha Bozeman on HBO’s ‘True Blood’ and more recently as Ma June in Amazon Prime Video’s hit adaptation of ‘Fallout.’ Gigandet rounds out the trio of new additions. He first gained attention through his recurring role as Kevin Volchok on Fox’s teen drama ‘The O.C.,’ where his brooding, volatile presence made him a standout antagonist. Since then, Gigandet has balanced TV and film work, appearing in projects like the musical drama ‘Burlesque’ (2010) and the action-heavy holiday thriller ‘Violent Night’ (2022).
The three actors join a growing Season 2 lineup that includes previously announced newcomers Kim Matula and Alex FitzAlan, alongside a substantial group of returning cast members. Brittany Snow and Malin Akerman are back as Sophie and Margo, the complicated duo at the center of the story, with Jaime Ray Newman, Dermot Mulroney, Evan Jonigkeit, George Ferrier, Karen Rodriguez, Hunter Emery, and Branton Box also reprising their roles. Season 2 opens with Sophie and Margo at odds, according to the official logline. While their relationship is fractured, unresolved secrets and emerging adversaries push them back into each other’s orbit.
As their high-stakes games resume, the series poses a central question that drives the narrative forward: are these women the ones in control, or are they being manipulated by forces they can’t yet see? As per Deadline, ‘The Hunting Wives’ was created by Rebecca Cutter, who also serves as showrunner. The series is adapted from May Cobb’s novel of the same name, with Cobb joining Cutter and 3 Arts Entertainment’s Erwin Stoff as executive producers. Lionsgate continues to serve as the studio behind the project.
