'Deadliest Catch' Season 20 set to return in June 2024, brings derby format with old veteran captains to compete

BERING SEA, NORTHERN PACIFIC OCEAN: ‘Deadliest Catch’ Season 20 is back! This show has been explaining to us for over two decades now on the functions of commercial fishing industry.

In the following show, fishermen experience dangers and navigate uncertainties as they get into fishing vessels and fish for Alaskan king crab, snow crab and bairdi crab during fishing seasons. Created by Thom Beers, this show is set to air in June, 2024.

The season brings the derby hunting format back! This season is back with the crab hunting after a decade where it is not just about the crabs but the captains also need to race against time with some new challenges.

Many captains from the past seasons make a comeback to test their waters. However, the show is promising something new from every captain as they indulge into more experiences about the fishing industry.

This season has captains speaking from experience, aspirations and need for money. With more holistic viewpoints of technical and non-technical teams, and will be full of something new. Who are the captains of season 20? Find out.

Who are the Captains and crew of ‘Deadliest Catch’ Season 20?

Johnathan Hillstrand

Johnathan Hillstrand is the captain of the Time Bandit when the king crab season arrives. When he is not on the sea, the Alaska resident loves to ride his Harley Davidson bike at 120 mph to feel the speed at the touch of a button. He is also an author, illustrator in the fishing related genre. 

Sigurd Hansen

Sigurd Jonny Hansen, also known as Sig Hansen is a Norwegian-American Captain and the co-owner of the fishing vessel F/V Northwestern. He has been featured in ‘Deadliest Catch’ since 2005, and also acts as the technical advisor in the production team of the show.

Jake Anderson

Jake Anderson is the owner of FV Titan Explorer. He calls himself an American fishing captain who previously co-owned the fishing vessel FV Saga. Since 2007, Anderson has been returning to ‘Deadliest Catch’.

Sophia 'Bob' Nielsen

Sophia 'Bob' Nielsen is one of the youngest on this docu-series show. She is a crew member of Jake’s F/V Saga and learnt a lot from the crabbing vessel as things progressed. 

Keith Colburn

Keith Colburn is an entrepreneur, a crabber, the “crab wizard”, and a safety advocate. He is the Captain of F/V Wizard. He has featured in ‘Deadliest Catch’ since 2005. He has also been a part of the show ‘Who Wants to be a Millionaire?’

Jacob Hutchins

Jacob Hutchins is the crew member of F/V Wizard, but plans to go beyond and become the first American-African Captain on the Bering sea. He does not hail from anywhere near the area.

Jack Bunnell

Jack Bunnell is an engineer on Saga. He is a third generation fisherman whose father told him fishing stories as a child. This inspired him to stay connected to the waters in his own ways. He loves the derby days of fishing. 

Steve Harley Davidson

Steve Harley Davidson is the Captain of F/V Southern Wind. He hails from Los Angeles and discovered fishing when he was 10-years-old. Harley is harsh with his crew and believes in more work and less friends.

Rick Shelford

Rick Shelford is the Captain of the Aleutian Lady. He is a fifth generation fisherman.

Wild Bill Wichrowski

Wild Bill Wichrowski is a Navy veteran, commercial fisherman and a Captain. He has been a part of this field for decades now, and loves to be on waters fishing even when he is not on the Ship. He is also a part of various fishing tournaments worldwide.
