'Deadliest Catch' Season 16 Episode 10: Jake's crew marred by issues, fans ask him to hire experienced members
Captain Jake Anderson was the talk of the Twitter town after today's episode of 'Deadliest Catch.' The Saga skipper had a slow start to the season and raw greenhorns. With the winter well and truly set in, the captain and his relatively inexperienced crew had a mixed day out at sea. They may have raked in pots filled with Opilio crab, but it wasn't without issues. For starters, there was the Siberian blast, a dangerous storm that was brewing. Then came a clogged toilet issue and then an injured greenhorn.
"@JakeVAnderson you're just realizing NOW that having three inexperienced crew members on board might have been a bad idea? #DeadliestCatch" a fan asked. "@JakeVAnderson I get that speed is important this season and that money is tight sometimes, but I said this to @CaptScottJr the last episode: wouldn't it wise to spend a little more money and try to hire someone with a little experience on deck? #DeadliestCatch," another fan asked.
"@JakeVAnderson it may be wise of you to make an offering to the crab gods like they use to do on the @fvnorthwestern. Maybe have one of your greenhorns bite a hering? #DeadliestCatch," a fan opined. Soon after the greenhorn Ross's injury, a concerned Jake asked him to rest as he was found to be nursing a mild concussion. "Have to agree with @JakeVAnderson's decision here. It's never a good idea to work with a possible concussion. #DeadliestCatch," a fan agreed.
However, for all the drawbacks, it sure looked like the crab gods favored the Saga as they were blessed with a rich haul. "Well, at least you're on the crab @JakeVAnderson. Looks like the crab gods have decided to look favorably upon you. #DeadliestCatch," a fan wrote. "I just realized something, the name Saga is a perfect analogy for @JakeVAnderson 's season so far. He had a great season with @captjohnathan, and now his opilio season has thus far been a real tale to tell. #DeadliestCatch," a tweet read.
But it sure looks like the challenge for Jake and the Saga are far from over. With the competition from Russia and the Siberian Blast storm only intensifying, they will need more than just luck and blessings to survive and make it out unscathed.
'Deadliest Catch' Season 16 airs Tuesdays 8 pm ET on Discovery.
