'The Crossover' book was in 'poetic verse'
'The Crossover' is one of the most impactful children's books, written by Kwame Alexander. The book is completely written in poetic verse, which made this book unique. The book can be considered as telling a coming-of-age story of a 12-year-old boy, Josh Bell. Josh and Jordan are identical twins and they make a great team while playing basketball. Josh completely admires and loves playing basketball and wants to follow in his father's footsteps, who used to be a basketball player as well. Things go well until Jordan gets a girlfriend and starts to drift away from playing basketball and from spending time with his family. Things at Josh's home further take a toll, when his father gets a heart attack. The rest of the story follows how the twins learn from their mistakes and try to acknowledge the effects of breaking the rules, coming together as a family and most of all, learning and embracing the concept of 'growing up'. 'The Crossover', in short, is a bittersweet and heartwarming tale.
