LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Who doesn't enjoy a good coming-of-age drama? Based on author Kwame Alexander's best-selling verse novel, the Disney series titled 'The Crossover' is a sports drama television series about two brothers, Josh Bell and Jordan Bell. The two narrate the story of their entering adulthood and how they evolved as people and as sportsmen. 

Author Kwame Alexander along with NBA player LeBron James, Maverick Carter, Jamal Henderson, Alexander Johnson, Damani Johnson, Hay Marcus, Bob Teitel, and George Tillman Jr will serve as executive producers for the show. The series was officially given a green light in January 2022, with SpringHill Entertainment, LeBron James' production company, joining the production.

When will ‘The Crossover’ release?

‘The Crossover’ will premiere on Disney Channel on April 4, 2023, and will also be available to stream on Disney+ on April 5, 2023, in the United States only. An international Disney+ release date will follow.

The basketball-centric series will be available to stream on Disney+ from April 5, 2023, in the United States only. Disney+ is available on desktop browsers as well as on mobile devices and tablets. The streaming platform is also available on LG WebOS, Apple TV, Chromecast, Amazon Fire TV, Samsung Tizen, Android TV, Vizio SmartCast, Roku TV, PlayStation, and Xbox. 

What is the plot of ‘The Crossover’?

'The Crossover' will present two remarkably gifted and extremely recognized teen basketball players, Josh and Jordan Bell. An adult version of Josh Bell will recount the tale of his and his brother Jordan Bell's coming of age stories, their lives off the court, and how their father, a former professional basketball player, adjusts to life after basketball through his lyrical poetry.

The series will also show how their mother eventually discovers ways to follow her own dreams. As they grow older, the two brothers explore and understand that, despite their many similarities, they are unique individuals.

Who stars in ‘The Crossover’?

The cast of the series includes teen brothers Jalyn Hall as Josh Bell, Amir O’Neil as JB Bell, Derek Luke as Chuck Bell, Sabrina Revelle as Crystal Bell, Skyla I’Lece as Alex, Deja Monique Cruz as Maya, and Trevor Raine Bush as Vondie. Daveed Diggs is going to narrate the story as he plays the adult version of Josh Bell a.k.a Filthy.

'The Crossover,' a novel, was published in 2014 and went on to win the Newbery Medal and the Coretta Scott King Book Award Honor.
