Did Erika Jayne and Tom Girardi sell their Pasadena home?
Erika Jayne's opulent mansion, which she once resided in alongside her estranged husband Tom Girardi, has been sold as a result of Tom's involuntary bankruptcy, marking a significant turn of events for the former esteemed lawyer, as per RadarOnline.com.
It has been reported by the media outlet that Tom's trustee notified the court that potential purchasers Jun Tao and Peng Tao submitted a bid of $7.5 million for the property, significantly lower than the original asking price of $13 million when it was first listed in 2021.
New court documents were submitted requesting the judge's approval for the agreement, which would use the funds from the sale to settle Tom's debts.
Due to the extended period, the house was on the market, creditors became increasingly impatient, leading to multiple reductions in the listing price.
The initial asking price of $13 million in 2021 was eventually decreased to $11.5 million, then further reduced to $9.98 million, and finally settled at $8.9 million.
Unfortunately, even if the house had been sold at the price initially listed, the amount obtained would only be a small fraction of the $517 million owed in claims against Tom's former law firm.
Numerous individuals who have suffered losses have bravely stepped forward, further contributing to the ever-growing sum of claims.
What is Erika Jayne's estranged husband Tom Girardi doing now?
Since March 2021, Tom Girardi has been battling dementia and late-onset Alzheimer's disease, which led to his move into a specialized memory care unit at an assisted living facility in October 2022, according to People magazine.
As per the legal documents obtained by the magazine, the dementia diagnosis, specifically referred to as a 'major neurocognitive disorder,' was the determining factor in the appointment of Girardi's younger brother, Robert Girardi, as the legal conservator of both Girardi's personal affairs and financial assets in July of 2021.
This diagnosis led to the official transfer of decision-making power and responsibility to Tom's brother to ensure that his well-being and financial interests were properly managed.
Girardi's attorneys noted in a June 2023 court filing that his deteriorating mental state necessitated a competency hearing.
On the third day of hearings in September 2023, Girardi lashed out at Assistant US Attorney Ali Moghaddas, telling him, “F*** you.”
