‘The White Lotus’ Season 4 kicks off filming with major new details revealed
Over the course of three previous seasons, 'The White Lotus' has established itself as one of the most important anthology shows on HBO. Created by Mark White, 'The White Lotus' recently kickstarted it's principal photography for the upcoming Season 4. Although an official release date window has yet to be announced, the network recently confirmed the first details of the upcoming installment, including the plot synopsis and the confirmed ensemble cast.
As is customary with the anthology show, each successive season is set against the backdrop of a new international location. While the debut season was set in Hawaii, Season 2 was filmed in Sicily. Season 3 took the cast and crew to Thailand. In keeping with this tradition, Season 4 will take place on the French Riviera. It has also been confirmed that filming for the show will take place largely in St. Tropez, Cannes, and Monaco. It has also been reported that Paris will serve as the filming location for certain scenes. The plot will once again center around the misadventures of a group of employees and guests over the course of one single week.
The official plot synopsis reads, "The fourth season will follow a new group of White Lotus hotel guests and employees over the span of a week, taking place during the Cannes Film Festival." The confirmed cast of the upcoming fourth season includes Helena Bonham Carter, Vincent Cassel, Steve Coogan, Caleb Jonte Edwards, Marissa Long, Alexander Ludwig, Chris Messina, AJ Michalka, Dylan Ennis, Corentin Fila, Ari Graynor, Nadia Tereszkiewicz, and Kumail Nanjiani in series regular roles. In addition to these, the cast also includes Sandra Bernhard, Heather Graham, Max Greenfield, Frida Gustavsson, Charlie Hall, Jarrad Paul, Chloe Bennet, Rosie Perez, Laura Smet, and Ben Schnetzer.
HBO has further revealed that the upcoming season will differ from previous installments in one crucial way. Season 4 will feature not one but two White Lotus hotels. Several real-life luxury hotels will be used for filming, including the Hôtel Martinez, which will be portrayed as White Lotus Cannes. On the other hand, the Airelles Château de la Messardière will be filmed as the White Lotus du Cap. Mike White retains his position as the creator, writer, director, and executive producer. He will be aided by executive producers Mark Kamine and David Bernad. All in all, this would be the second time the show has used a European backdrop for its narrative, beginning from the sophomore season. As of this writing, it isn't clear whether any familiar characters from past seasons, such as Greg or Belinda, will be coming back for the fourth season. Previous seasons and episodes of 'The White Lotus' are available exclusively on HBO Max.
