'The Lincoln Lawyer' 5 begins production with one key cast member's return as Mickey's life takes a turn
Production has officially started for Season 5 of Netflix's hit series 'The Lincoln Lawyer.' The 10-part fifth season was renewed in January, a week before the show's Season 4 premiere. Centered on the Los Angeles attorney Mickey Haller (Manuel Garcia-Rulfo), the series is created by David E. Kelley, who also serves as the executive producer. Ted Humphrey has developed the legal drama from Michael Connelly's 'Mickey Haller' book series, with the next installment being adapted from the seventh book, 'Resurrection Walk.' In an exciting development, Tudum by Netflix revealed that Cobie Smulders, who was seen in the final moments of Season 4, will join the upcoming installment as a key series regular. Additionally, the next season will also feature new recurring cast members as Haller's world expands with more high-stakes legal action.
'How I Met Your Mother' star Cobie Smulders was introduced in Season 4 as Mickey's half-sister, Emi Finch, and she will play a prominent role in the events of the next season. Moreover, new characters will be introduced as Mickey focuses on a new case and delves deeper into his family's history. The cast members joining the show's next chapter are Patty Guggenheim as Allison Finch, Corbin Bernsen as Richard Finch, Chris Diamantopoulos as Frank Silver, Diane Guerrero as Natalia, Steve Howey as Brian Cunningham, Iker Garcia as Rafa Wagner, Teresa Maria as Tina Perez, and Richard Cabral as Benny Perez.
Season 5 of 'The Lincoln Lawyer' will see Mickey's personal and professional lives get entangled in a way he wasn't prepared for. His long-lost sister, Emi, will convince him to take on a case that will force him to confront a dangerous world beset by lies, corruption, and deception. The official description of the upcoming season states, "Mickey Haller’s world is upended when the half-sister he never knew existed, Emi (Cobie Smulders), comes to him with a plea to help free a wrongfully convicted woman. In a season defined by blood ties and buried secrets, Mickey takes on a grueling habeas petition to overturn a six-year-old murder conviction, but the deeper he digs, the more nefarious the forces arrayed against him become."
As Mickey fights for an innocent woman's freedom, his trusted team members Lorna (Becki Newton), Izzy (Jazz Rayburn), and Cisco (Angus Sampson) will also take on their own high-profile legal battles. Recurring guest star Neve Campbell will return as Maggie McPherson, alongside Krista Warner as Hayley Haller, Angelica Maria as Elena Haller, and Gigi Zumbado as the forensic video analyst, Grace. No official release date for 'The Lincoln Lawyer' Season 5 has been announced yet, but it could possibly arrive in early or mid-2027.
