David Morse joins 'Mayor of Kingstown' Season 5 in powerful new role as the crime drama begins production
'Mayor of Kingstown' has tapped the Emmy-nominated actor David Morse as a series regular for its fifth and final season. On January 5, the crime thriller series from Taylor Sheridan and Hugh Dillon was renewed for Season 5, which will feature eight episodes. While an official release date has not been announced yet, the final chapter of the Paramount+ series has begun production in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Morse's character will play an important role in bringing an end to the McLusky family's reign over the titular town, where they maintain a fragile balance between the criminal underworld and the local authorities.
Morse will play the veteran FBI agent Russell Hardy opposite series regulars like Jeremy Renner and Edie Falco in the farewell season of the gritty crime drama. Hardy will arrive in Kingstown to bring Mike and his gang to justice. The logline of the upcoming season reads, "In the wake of Tracy’s (Nishi Munshi) murder and the vengeance visited upon Callahan by Mike (Renner) and Kyle (Taylor Handley), FBI agent Russell Hardy (Morse) arrives in Kingstown searching for the 'fugitive' Callahan. A true lawman, Agent Hardy threatens to unearth all of Mike’s sins and secrets, and disrupt Kingstown’s tenuous balance of power."
The 72-year-old Morse has earned Emmy nominations for his roles as Detective Michael Tritter in the medical drama 'House' and George Washington in the miniseries 'John Adams.' He was last seen in the psychological thriller 'We Were Liars' on Prime Video. His other television roles include Apple TV’s 'The Last Thing He Told Me,' 'The Morning Show,' 'Escape at Dannemora,' and 'The Chair.' Moreover, Morse has also starred in films like 'World War Z,' 'The Hurt Locker,' and 'Looking Through Water.'
Fans are now excited to see him in the new season of the Paramount+ drama, which features Renner as 'Mike' McLusky, Falco as Nina Hobbs, Taylor Handley as Kyle McLusky, Laura Benanti as Cindy Stephens, Tobi Bamtefa as Deverin 'Bunny' Washington, Necar Zadegan as Evelyn Foley, Hugh Dillon as Ian Ferguson, Nichole Galicia as Rebecca, Derek Webster as Stevie, and Lennie James as Frank Moses. In the Season 4 finale, Kyle avenged his wife Tracy's murder by brutally executing Merle Callahan (Richard Brake) at the railroad yard. In December 2025, Handley told TV Insider that his character would be forced to deal with the consequences of his actions in the next season. "With all the damage that he’s doing, it may feel good in the moment, but I think that he’s going to have a hard time dealing with himself if this story goes on," he said.
