When will ‘The Lincoln Lawyer’ Season 5 release? Here’s what we know after Netflix’s renewal
'The Lincoln Lawyer' Season 4 finally premiered its 10 episodes on February 5, 2026, on Netflix. For the unversed, since debuting in 2022, the legal drama has earned largely positive reviews and built a loyal, steady audience. The new season adapts Michael Connelly’s novel ‘The Law of Innocence,’ the sixth installment in his Mickey Haller book series.
In the season 3 finale of 'The Lincoln Lawyer,' Mickey Haller (Manuel Garcia-Rulfo) was accused of murdering his former client, Sam Scales, after his dead body was found in the trunk of his Lincoln Navigator. The titular character spends the fourth season defending himself against the murder charges while searching for the true killer. He faces a formidable opponent in prosecutor Dana Berg as he goes on trial for murder. But with the help of his legal team, which includes his ex-wives, Maggie and Lorna, Haller identifies the true culprit as the Armenian mobster, Alex Gazarian. In the end, the slick lawyer clears his name, not by getting a 'not guilty' verdict, but by outsmarting the FBI into declaring his innocence.
Following his personal win, Haller's story will continue into the next chapter of 'The Lincoln Lawyer' as the showrunners and executive producers, Ted Humphrey and Dailyn Rodriguez, announced that the series has been renewed for a fifth season. "We’re so excited to share the upcoming fourth season with the audience on February 5th and even more excited to share the news that we’re already hard at work on the next one. Season 4 is the most challenging and intensely personal journey we’ve taken Mickey Haller on yet, and we’re thrilled and grateful to be able to continue the ride in Season 5," Deadline shared their statement on January 28. The outlet also mentioned that season 5 will adapt the seventh novel, 'Resurrection Walk', from the book series, and, like previous seasons, the story will unfold over 10 episodes.
It must be noted that Netflix has not officially announced a release date for the show's fifth chapter. But considering the release schedule of past seasons, one can expect season 5 to drop in the first half of 2027. Furthermore, 'How I Met Your Mother' star Cobie Smulders will join the main cast, as Deadline had reported in June 2025 that she had been tapped to play Haller's long-lost sister, Allison. She made a cameo appearance in the final moments of the season 4 finale, but is expected to have a more prominent role in the coming season. While discussing the plot developments of season 5, Humphrey and Rodriguez told Tudum by Netflix that Haller's fight to prove his innocence in court leaves him fundamentally changed. "What that change means to Mickey or how that change manifests itself in his life is obviously something we’re excited to explore going forward," Humphrey concluded.
For those who can't wait for the season 5 trailer, the book's official synopsis can offer a glimpse into Haller's next endeavor. "Lincoln Lawyer Mickey Haller enlists the help of his half-brother, Harry Bosch, to prove the innocence of a woman convicted of killing her ex-husband.... Haller has an uphill battle in court, a David fighting Goliaths to vindicate his client. The path for both lawyer and investigator is fraught with danger from those who don’t want the case reopened and will stop at nothing to keep the Haller-Bosch dream team from finding the truth." There are no reports of Titus Welliver reprising his role as Bosch in the show's next chapter as of yet. Smulders will likely step into that role as Allison.
