Glen Powell is set to make another big-screen appearance early next year. With 'The Running Man' off to a sedate start in cinemas, the 'Top Gun: Maverick' star now has another chance of scoring a hit with writer-director John Patton Ford’s thriller feature, 'How to Make a Killing'. The trailer was released earlier today.

Inspired by director Robert Hamer’s 1949 British crime thriller, 'Kind Hearts and Coronets', the film follows Powell Becket Redfellow pulling out all stops as he fights for his inheritance from his wealthy family after being cast aside. The cast also includes Ed Harris, Jessica Henwick, Zach Woods, Topher Grace, Margaret Qualley, and Raff Law.

The official synopsis reads: "When she passes away, impoverished and alone, Becket decides to make good on her belief that he is destined for greatness, no matter how evil he might need to be to achieve it. Ruthlessly determined to get back what Mary always said was stolen from him, Becket hatches a murderous scheme to eliminate the seven Redfellow relatives who stand between him and his inheritance."

"Can money buy happiness? As the heirs fall one by one, in a series of deliciously imaginative accidents, Becket is pretty sure it can. But he must also navigate his relationship with his loving girlfriend, Ruth, for whom money means nothing, and the increasing attentions of Julia, a flirtatious old flame from the past, for whom it most definitely does."

In his recent interview with THR, Powell revealed he was gung-ho about the release of 'How to Make a Killing', which was previously titled 'Huntington'. Yeah, the thing with release schedules is that there’s a time and a place for a movie to come out. I’ve seen the movie, and it’s fantastic. I do know that you’ll be seeing it this coming year, but it’s not going to be called Huntington. There’s going to be a new title that we will probably be debuting here in the next few weeks. But the movie is fantastic, and John Patton Ford is a great filmmaker. I can’t wait for people to see it.

'How to Make a Killing' releases February 20, 2026.
