The Madison’ may still be in its early days, but behind the scenes, things are already shifting. One familiar face has already decided to pack up and ride off. That would be Matthew Fox, who played Paul Clyburn, the brother of Kurt Russell’s Preston. It is worth noting that his character died in Season 1 but appeared in flashbacks. Fox recently confirmed that he will not be returning for Season 2. He spoke openly about it in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, making it clear this was not about creative differences or scheduling conflicts. It’s more personal than that. He said, “I’m at a point in my life where I’d rather pop in and do something interesting, but I don’t want to dedicate six years of my life to something [again].” Instead, he’s leaning toward shorter runs.

He wants to step in, do work that excites him, and then move on before it becomes all-consuming. Fox didn’t hold back when talking about working with Taylor Sheridan, who continues to build what feels like an entire universe of character-driven dramas that all somehow carry his fingerprint. Fox mentioned that he "appreciated Taylor’s authenticity of the world." He added, "He offers a lot as a storyteller, not just on a dialogue level but there’s so much subtext. I don’t know how he does everything that he’s doing. It’s mind-boggling. I’ve worked on other series where there’s a creator and a writers room where a lot of people are involved, and he writes everything. It’s really kind of astounding.”

Meanwhile, the show itself has been moving at a surprisingly fast pace behind the camera. Season 1, which released its first batch of episodes on March 14, wrapped up by March 21. Now, all six episodes are available on Paramount+, waiting to be binged in one go. However, here’s the twist. Season 2 is already done filming. That’s because production took on both seasons back-to-back, largely to fit around Russell’s schedule while he was also busy with ‘Monarch: Legacy of Monsters’. Now the big question is timing, as there’s still no official release window for the second season.

Taylor Sheridan isn’t exactly running a one-show operation. His slate is stacked, and that lineup could affect when ‘The Madison’ returns to screens. Projects like ‘Special Ops: Lioness’ Season 3, ‘Mayor of Kingstown’ Season 5, and ‘Dutton Ranch’ are all competing for space on the calendar this year. That means fans might have to wait a bit longer than expected. The next season could be released next year, or around the same window the first installment arrived, if the platform decides to keep things neat and cyclical.
