'Dan Da Dan' officially renewed for season 3 as producers unveil first sneak peek at Jump Festa
If you thought the first two seasons of the anime series 'Dan Da Dan' were explosive, wait until you watch the third season. The hit anime series adapted from the manga created by Yukinobu Tatsu has now been renewed for an upcoming third season, Variety magazine reported. The confirmation was made during the recently held Jump Festa on December 21, 2026.
Apart from announcing the return of 'Dan Da Dan', the producers of the show at Science SARU went a step further and revealed a key teaser from the upcoming third installment. With a potential release window set in 2027, the key art features the energetic duo of Okarun and Momo, along with Turbo Grammy, against the backdrop of Bamora donning her Kaiju suit, as reported by Hype Beast. Tatsu began publishing 'Dan Da Dan' for the first time back in April 2021 at the manga-magazine platform, 'Shonen Jump+', owned by Shueisha.
As of now, a total of twenty-one volumes of 'Dan Da Dan' manga have been published, and the series continues to drop new editions every Tuesday on the platform. It is a testament to the popularity of Tatsu's creation that the manga has sold over twelve million copies. The narrative focuses on two teenagers by the names of Momo and Okarun. Momo and her family belong to a long line of spiritual vessels who can connect with the spirits of deceased people. On the other hand, Okarun is her classmate and is intensely curious about occult practices and extra-terrestrial life.
When Momo helps Okarun overcome the fear of school bullies, the two strike up an instant friendship. However, both of them hold themselves in high esteem in terms of their areas of interest, and this soon leads them into conflict. To settle a wager, Momo makes her way to an abandoned hospital that has made a name for itself as an area of intense UFO activity, and Okarun visits a tunnel believed to be haunted. This encounter has a profound impact on both of them as Momo unleashes her hidden spiritual prowess and Okarun gains cursed powers. What follows is a riveting tale of supernatural struggles and even a burgeoning romance!
In terms of the plot, the third season is expected to make use of the 'Space Globalists Arc' as written by Tatsu, and can be speculated to feature high-stakes storytelling as extra-terrestrial elements will be marking their entry. The show is co-produced by long-time anime producer Mainichi Broadcasting System (MBS), located in Osaka. The other producer, Science SARU, is known for previous titles such as 'Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken!', 'The Colors Within', 'Devilman Crybaby', 'Lu Over The Wall', and 'Inu-Oh'.
