Contains spoilers and speculation for 'The Acolyte'

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'The Acolyte' Episode 8 aired on Disney+ on July 16, 2024, and the engaging episode capped off an eventful season with an exciting character being teased for the next season.

The final frame of the show gave a glimpse into one of the most iconic characters of the 'Star Wars' universe when it showed Master Vernestra (Rebecca Henderson) talking to Master Yoda. The audience doesn't know yet about the details of the conversation but it would certainly have to do with the death of Jedi Masters.

Master Vernestra lies to the Senate when she tells them about Master Sol (Lee Jung-jae) being a rogue Jedi who killed the other Jedi Masters and then killed himself at Brendok. She knows that his death has to do with Mae and Osha's (Amandla Stenberg) past and the rise of the Sith forces. Now with Master Yoda coming into the picture here is what we think about his involvement in the next season.

Who is Grandmaster Yoda?

Grandmaster Yoda is an iconic character in the 'Star Wars' universe who was the leader of the Jedi through the High Republic Era. He has a small build but he is revered for his wisdom and intellect.

He served the Jedi Order for centuries and saw them through many wars before passing it on to Luke Skywalker. In his tenure, he trained many Jedi Padawans. He lived for over 800 years before finally dying of old age. Most of his final years were spent in exile and isolation in a remote world called Dagobah.

His presence in 'The Acolyte' was unexpected as the show chronicled the rise of the Sith and the events of the show take place about 100 years before the events of 'The Phantom Menace'. In 'The Phantom Menace', Yoda and the other Jedi are shocked to hear about the return of the Sith, so it is unlikely that he would have known about them in the show.

It could be possible though, that he knew and carried the guilt of knowing and hiding the presence of the Sith. Also, since we don't know the exact conversation between Vernestra and Yoda. She might have hidden the details of the Jedi deaths from Master Yoda too. Season 2 will offer more details.

What could be the plot of 'The Acolyte' Season 2?

Master Yoda was not the only cameo in the final episode. A mysterious figure was seen on the unknown planet where Osha and Qimir (Manny Jacinto) were present. Many suspect that the mysterious figure could be the fabled Sith lord Darth Plagueis.

If the character is indeed Darth Plagueis, we could be in for an enticing war between Master Yoda and Darth Plagueis. It would also add depth to Master Yoda's character if he knew about the presence of the Sith.

Further, Master Vernestra has Mae without her memory and she could probably use Mae to discover where Osha and Qimir are. They are seen training in the final moments of the episode as Osha finally begins to realize how powerful she is.

Osha promised Mae that she would meet her again so we might see that reunion in the second season too. Also, we might get to know the backstory of Qimir and Master Vernestra which was teased only briefly in the final episode of season 1.
